flash
i know last years comp didnt really happen, just thinking we could at least try and make it happen this year. maybe .22 at 100 yrds, or something similar. just to make it interesting, as two days of normal target shooting may get boring. although i may be slipping off saturday afternoon to get a some pigeons for the barbie. as the ones last year went down a treat. just an idea, i could ask my dad to try and get some military targets, u know the ones, in she shape of a kraut. cheers flash
Dunkield
How about one of these? Competition hmmmmm I think a shooting competition may be an idea Flash, might keep people out of the Pavilion anyway I can get those targets - figure 11's - and pretty much anything anyone wants with a bit of notice. I printed off some deer targets for last year but they never got used, so I still have them somewhere. And don't forget balloons
dunganick
yes a competition sounds like a good idea, i still have a pile of the approoved PW prarie dog target which snotty kindly printed off for last year. it looks like this: alternatively we could do a stalkers test, these normally comprise of: 2 shots prone, 2 shots kneeling with sticks, 2 shots sitting with sticks, 2 shots standing with stick, 2 shots free hand off bench (no bipod only a sporting sling). These can be very good as the bull is about 10cm, so even a .22lr in the right hands could win it @ 100yrds The potential problem i see with a group competition is that we would require alot of classes. .22lr (needs a class of its own as even the HMR will walk all over it) HMR and small bore rifles could be grouped and full bore rifles could have a class of their own. This means 3 classes. i'm open to idea's
Mungler
Rifles is for girls. The shotty boys will rule supreme. I mean really, where's the skill? It's not even as though your targets are moving. I look forward to beating StuartP with his own rifle. I will bring my .22 Air Arms S310 and will of course mortar a .22 pellet into the centre of the 300 yard target for fun. Should be easy, its not moving after all
MC
Nick, That target is all very well for you boys with scopes, I have nothing to focus on. Can you not turn it round so the black is white? Or can I use an official 100yd target? Mungler, I will get you some 12g slugs if you want a go, we could put a scope on my Xtrema

Mungler
I am looking forward to a go on the rifles. I think there should be an open sites competition using one gun. No jiggery pokery, no range finder this that and the other and no scopes.

Dunkield
Didn't Flash's Dad have an SMLE last time? Monsieur Drovers may bring his .44 magnum underlever, but I am never sure what he has or doesn't have these days - but he normally has something interesting. I will need to get some spanking ammo, I bought 100 AE's the other day, I will try and get a 100 of those horrible PPU's for the 6.5 as well. Glad it's only once a year, we haven't even started sorting out the food yet

Glad it's only once a year, we haven't even started sorting out the food yet half correct there stuart. its a lee enfield L39. basically a conversion from a smelly.this is what it looks like its in 7.62, has a heavy target barrel. currently got a scope on, but we have the peep hole sites for it, proper target sites. i think it would be quite interesting doing a comp with iron sites only. ill talk to dad and try and get the iron sites on it . cheers flash

Dunkield
200/300yd target If we want some of these, or any others (within reason) let me know I will squirt them off at work.
Dunkield
I forgot to add, for those who don't know you can get ammo at Bisley (if they have it in stock obviously) from here. http://www.nsc-bisley.co.uk/common/asp/arm...=NSC&type=1 This is handy for 6.5 shooters, for instance, as they do FMJ's for £8/20 And the BSRC do almost all target .22 (not hollow point) ammo in their shop onsite. MC
The biggest problem with the open sights target is that the aiming mark needs to be about 6minutes in diameter. So that would be the largest squirrel known to man. especially at 600yards. Stuart, I am deadly serious about the Extrema and slugs, I have no idea who we go about zeroing the scope though, The NRA may not be too impressed with that on the zero range I can also get BP pistols or underlever rifles if anyone is interested. Dunkield
Well, IMHO the underlevers would spice things up a bit, BP stuff is a bit fiddly and messy. I think anything that is a bit different is always a good idea, most memories of last years meet were of Snotty's guns after all Standard rifles are all well and good, for those who haven't shot them before or want to try another calibre out, but 1 1/2 days of paper punching is a long time - more than I have even done before that is for sure. pin
Anything interesting and unusual is great, have played with .357 "marlin" action stuff and I have to say it's great fun. Anything like that would, for me personally, be very interesting. I assume this is due to your having done the NRA assessment Martin?
