Federal .17HMR

Not many people talk about them, most seem to use Remington, CCI or Hornady.

 

Any particular reason?

 

My local dealer has Fed, Rem & CCI but recommends the Fed's.

I really rate them in my gun (see sig).

 

See some groups I have had with them @100 yds in sporting pictures.

 

Liked them so much I bought what they had left in that batch

my local has hornady cci and feds and he too recomends the feds highly,iv'e killed rabbits and a fox with them and reckon they do more damage than the hornady vmax im trying at the minute,

I use the federal v-shock ballistic tips, cci 17 grain and 20 grain.

 

I think it's all ok really.

 

All seems accurate and kills what it hits.

 

If I miss I blame myself and not the ammo.

Prefer hornady v-max never had any probs with them at all where as the federals seem to split like hell in my gun maybe it was just a bad batch but id stick with hornady same bullet anyway but hornady seem to make a stronger case imho

my cz seems to like feds and i use them for everything,i found that shooting a rabbit or crow makes the insides turn to mush,i also liked remington 17grain i found these to be exstreamly exsplosive.

have a really fussy rifle that will only shoot feds

 

tried every other 17 bullet on the market but not as good as feds.

 

not saying that there the best on the market but in my rifle nothing can get any were near the group that feds give..

 

and before the usuall chaps but in. i know theg roups are not as good as yours

 

if the piks still there its 9 shots at 100yds

I suspect I buy them from the same place as Pin and mine likes the federals. Had one split case but thats it in 600 rounds or so. Groups well and thats about all that counts

Feds work well in my HW60J too - seem to get the best groups with them at 100yrds, it also likes the remi's too but cant get adecent group with the hornadys

Federals wotk best for me but my local RFD only supplies Remmington, which also works very well.

i was in with the local dealer today and he shot a big cub fox last night,as i said earlier he rates the feds highly,he shot the fox at 70yds hit it on the shoulder and the round or a piece of it passed rite through it,he said he felt the chest area and it was like mush,some damage from the feds vshok. :blink:
