P03
I was talking to a (non-shooting) friend yesterday telling him about the Bisely meet and happened to mention the fact that I had sent a cheque off to Dunganick. He couldn't believe it, to use his words "so you sent a £70 cheque to someone you've never met with your bank account number, sort code AND signature on it.......in these days of identity fraud....are you mad?" And it made me think....I didn't, for one second, consider the fact that a fellow shooter and forum member would ever rip me off (and I still don't Nick... don't worry this is only food for thought) so I asked myself this.....Am I naive or is there something that makes us (shooters/fieldsportsmen etc) trust each other ? I'm far too cautious to ever send a cheque to anyone else so what made me inherently trust Nick? Answers on the back of a signed blank cheque to........ Cranfield
Don't worry Nick, he doesn't suspect a thing.
Gully
I think it all depends on how much of a track record the person has on here. One of the 10 people I was shooting with last week nicked my phone, so you can't trust all shooters!
njc110381
I think it helps that he's been on here for some time and other forum users know him. You wouldn't send a cheque to someone who joined yesterday would you? Once you know he's genuine (good social structure with others on here-has a SGC/FAC) he's probably going to be a safe bet really. There's an eliment of risk in everything nowadays, but I wouldn't have a problem sending money to someone who's been on here for a while
P03
Yeah he's been here longer than me, but I've never met him. I'm not saying you can trust all shooters. It's just that I didn't even give it a second thought and for me that is most uncommon.
Graham M
You get a “Feel†for people on these forums and I have sent cheques to a couple in the past. There are however a couple of names on certain forums that I wouldn’t even consider sending off any cheque/money, because I would be wondering whether or not I would receive the goods. I wouldn’t have any worries about Nick though; decent lad. G.M.
Browning
There's an eliment of risk in everything nowadays, but I wouldn't have a problem sending money to someone who's been on here for a while I've been on here since December 2003. Will you send me some money please.
P03
NO Oh OK then how much do you want?
MC
To settle your nerves for you, I have sent Nick cheques before and have never been scammed by him, I have met him on several occasions and can vouch that he is a good bloke. However If he does rip you off and get 3 mortgages in your name and marries 12 different illegal immigrants for cash, again in your name then please ignore the above

lurcherboy
Dunganick is straighter than the straighest thing you have ever seen. For example, when the first Erynha Memorial Shoot was instigated I covered his **** for him with my credit card while he was waiting for all the cheques to come in and was glad to help him. Sound lad with an old head on young shoulders LB

Dunkield
I have been sent cheques by 2 forum members, that I had (have in one case) never met, for several hundred quid way in advance of them getting their guns :look: As GM says you can get a feel for people via forums, and I would happily deal with established forum members. After all, I sent someone I have never met nearly £600 on ebay. I did sweat a bit when my goods hadn't turned up few days later but they came through and all was OK. As George Michael said 'you gotta have faith' Nick is a straight as they come. Your mate sounds a bit jumpy, but he may have been turned over in the past - is he divorced? Graham M
Just received a 1,000,000 CW lamp off a dealer on ebay…..and it isn’t working. Waited over a month from ordering it and in the end had to send an email to ask where it was. He reckoned it was something to do with waiting for Paypal to clear it and was sending it out straight away. He did send it within 2 days of the email……..but it don’t *****in’ work. :look: AAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
