deeksofdoom
I was at friends house over the weekend, he asked me for some help getting rid of some pesky crows and mags who are tapping on the windows of the house every morning at the crack of dawn waking the whole family up. He has a Larsen trap so I’m trying to get a call bird through my local network. Failing that I might have to pay him a visit some morning see if I can nail a few, without busting all his windows and blowing the fascia and soffit off the house. Any ideas on what’s causing this are the birds after their reflections on the windows or trying to peck the rubber/silicone off the window frames, the house is a new build. Any ideas/ explanation for these behaviors?
Longbower
Corvids , are the same as many birds , very territorial. Robins , as cute as they are will fight to the death to keep control of 'their patch. And you have guessed correctly in that they see their own reflection as a threat. The same as they will attack a 'call bird' in a larsen. Solution , Shoot them, but they are very wary. Or, get some plain brown paper and some masking tape and apply it to the outside of the windows. A picture of a moggy , or cuddly toy , can also make them stay away. Anything that stops the reflection. Good luck '

Teal
He's in the South of Ireland so different rules apply. But you are right to control a magpie or crow for those reasons would not be permissible under GL in the UK.
Dave-G
As a matter of interest, a local prestige brand car sales agency had a crow issue with them pulling rubbers from the sides of the tinted showroom windows. I was asked to deal with them but eventually tired of asking them to leave a wide area clear of vehicles over several weekends to avoid possible ricochet damage. They offered decent money for it but I just couldn't justfy risking a projectile striking a 50K + motor and left it alone.
