sam triple
Try a small Cole chizzle and gentling tap around ,failing that try an old torques driver in it ,last solution is to drill it out
bornfree
Hammer in a slightly oversized torx bit. If not drill it out.
bear-uk
Use a hammer and center pop in the outer ring. If it doesn't work try it on the opposite side. Edited June 21, 2019 by bear-uk
figgy
Get the next size up Allen key, file the sides to a gentle taper so the end fits into your cap head screw. Tap it in with a small hammer and then push it in as you turn it. Should come out no problem and no damage.
Walker570
The oversize torx would be my first try.

Loki
Hi Though sorted now there are stud extractors for undoing the like............. Pilot drill and then use the SE's reverse thread. Lidl/Aldi do them evry so often. L
Sako7mm
Should you need to do this again... Take the plastic insert out of the ring, put the base in a vice or workmate with the ring uppermost. Put a piece of wood like a hammer shaft or even the end of your yardbrush handle in the ring. Turn the ring, which will loosen it without ********* up the screw. You may mark the top of the base slightly as it turns.
