steve_b_wales
I'm looking to purchase a reasonably priced tripod to use with a new spotting scope I'm about to purchase. A heavy/sturdy type is what I'd like. Any ideas on what to get?
welsh1
If you want heavy and sturdy look for a second hand benbo, huge range of adjustment on the legs means you can set it up anywhere, good solid British made.
yates
I’m currently at work but will let you know the one that I bought earlier in the month later. I have the celestron ultimata 100 spotting scope and was struggling to get a decent tripod to support the scope weight. The company I bought it from are Rother Valley Optics in Rotherham

das
Manfrotto if you want a quality rock steady tripod. A tripod is exactly 'you get what you pay for', never truer. Put a spotting scope on a cheap, lightweight tripod, breath on it, and watch it shake, Been there, done it.

chrisjpainter
I've been using my Velbon Sherpa 200 for a fair few years and have had no issues at all. it takes my Zeiss 15-45x60 spotting scope perfectly and is easily stored. It's survived many a reckless birdwatching escapade in its time
