Sparky Mark
I have just been given an opportunity to bring forward a 600 - 800 yards range in Mid Wales with a practical SG area and just about anything you can think of. We might get 1000 yards out of it but that will need to be checked. I intend to run it as a HO approved private members club and allow access to other clubs for day visits. Before I invest in the site I am trying to gauge the level of interests there is from Mid Wales FAC holders who would welcome a new club to join and also from members of clubs who would value the opportunity to shoot longer distances without having to try and book (and keep) a MOD range facility. There are no local clubs and at this distance it is a pretty unique opportunity anywhere. What do you guys and gals think....
powler
Myself and maybe a few from this area would be interested, maybe a bit of travelling for us but its a day out. Mick

Although a day visit wouldn't be out of the question. There's a new range opening in Llanbradach near Caerphilly, Mid Glamorgan later this year. NoBodyImportant
That’s awesome. I have to drive 2 hours to get to a 1000 yard range. Almost all the ranges on public lands around here stop at 300.
WalkedUp
14 hours ago, Sparky Mark said: In between Newtown and Machynlleth. Unfortunately too far for me too, the population density in this area is low. Even after accounting for a higher proportion of firearm ownership in rural areas the catchment may be limited. In a viability appraisal I would ask: what distance would people be willing to drive to the range given its USP (1000m), how many do I need to generate sustainable income, where are the competitors, how many people are there in the catchment area (I.e. your original question), how frequently do they shoot, how can I ‘upswell’ (RFD for ammo, kitchen for bacon butties etc). Best of luck with it, it will be a brilliant facility if it is a sustainable business. Up sell
Vince Green
How far is that from Penrhiwpal Club?
Itchington Harris
I would be willing to travel from the west Midlands maybe a couple of times a year if it was possible to get a "day pass".
