markbivvy
Definetly sickening , but as far as bad PR, which sport?. Am i missing something ! with out a doubt a gamekeeper will be blamed.
Yonic
The Bad PR is that the RSPB will suspect that it is a local gamekeeper that has put the poison down,I expect that this tought would rub off on the press...
al4x
the sad fact is they will probably be right after all its on a grouse moor and theres not many people who have a problem with birds of prey other than keepers. the bait probably wasn't aimed at the Golden eagle but thats pretty inconsequential
henry d
It could well be the act of the Anti`s too
Bagsy
With the 'glorious 12th' marking the start of the grouse shooting season there is no doubt the attention will be on the game keeping community though as Henry d states it could also be a ploy by the antis to bring bad press as the season starts. Lets hope the Police keep an open mind and find the culprits whoever they are.
malkiserow
I think Henryd has a strong point given today is the real first day of the season. Antis playing politics ?
russuk
http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=27...p;id=1045752007 Same poison.
chunk
Talking of bad pr, there was an article in The sunday Times about the over commercialisation of driven pheasant shooting. Quoting Hugh fearnly whatshis face and some other chef, they had given up game shooting because of seeing pheasants either burnt or ploughed in as there was no outlet for the birds after shooting. I`m not into driven shooting myself but it was a pretty damning report.
Ferret Master
Antis have been known to stitch keepers up. The fact that the eagles had nested there for some years suggests that it wouldn't be the keeper that would have poisoned them due to the fact surely anyone who wished to do so would have attempted to do it sooner rather than later. :( FM B)

I`m not into driven shooting myself but it was a pretty damning report. We keep hearing of these reports (mainly from antis) without ever seeing the evidence. I think spoiled birds (i.e. those unfit for consumption) can be disposed of by burying. I haven't seen the article, but I'd be surprised if those you mention have given up game shooting - they have done it for years and included shooting on their TV shows. If you mean they have given up driven pheasant shooting, then I'd accept that but I'd be surprised that they had ever done it with any regularity anyway, preferring smaller walked-up shoots.
