Put a second hand door in my new dog shed/extension but struggling to get it latching smoothly. The handle has to be forced up and the latches are obviously grating but once up the key turns freely to lock and unlock. Top corners of the frame and door mouldings line up but I'm not really sure what I'm doing when trying to adjust the hinges, can anyone explain it in idot? millrace Posted April 30, 2020 Report Share Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) 6 mm Allen key....on hinges there is a screw Allen head on bottom of knuckle,,, and on side nearest frame on the piece of hinge on the door,,,there may be caps covering these flick them out and adjust height is the one on the hinge as such.... in and out is the one on the side as such,,make sure if you lift the door you adjust all three hinges .... Sounds like you want to tilt it...but first just try to screw up height If its tilt screw top back in this pulling the door up at angle.... If you watch the door as you do this it will make sense.... Posted April 30, 2020 Report Share Posted April 30, 2020 there are a 1001 different types of upvc door hinge out there, if it latches ok and sits in the frame ok then leave the hinges alone, check the latch keeps is my advice, they're usually the culprit. check alignment, then check depth adjustment Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bear-uk Posted April 30, 2020 Report Share Posted April 30, 2020 Put some pencil lines dead centre on locks and catches on both door and frame. Make these visible when door is pushed closed.
