Hi, Thanks for the welcome guys and maybe gals. Have now recieved my licence and have had two trips out clay shooting. Was not impressed by the bruised shoulder, but have been informed I will get the hang of that. I think I have excelled on the time taken from Licence application to receipt. Can anyone top 1 month? Have picked out a S/H gun so I hope this will help. The gun I have chosen is a Browning 325 G1 30" M/C. Would appreciate some feedback on that gun. Inis.

Newbie here but too many years shooting to admit to!

That gun, Browning 325 G1 30" M/C, you are on pretty safe ground with that provided it fits you reasonable well and you need to chat to a coach to check that out or a reasonable experienced shooter.

If you are getting bruised there is something not quite right. I shoot the 32" version at clays and I wouldn't expect to get a bruise...ever.

Drop down to Express 24 g cartidge which won't have anyeffect on your scores but will be more forgiving of any mistakes you make mounting your gun.

I would bet a pound to a penny that your "problem" will be down to nerves and trying too hard while it is all new. Relax, slow down and get some help from a friendly committe member at the ground you are visiting, don't struggle on your own, it's the slow way to do things.

If you are withing striking distance og Loughborough you are welcome to visit my club where we incubate newbie shooters like weeds!

Thanks for the invite. I have now purchased the gun, bought some cartridges, a cleaning kit and took it for a try out. Great, no bruises, fits like a glove. As you rightly say, nerves do play a big part and have just about got into the swing of it now(especialy on the skeet shoot). Just need more practice when I can find some cheap cartridges. Not much discount by quantity is there? Regards Inis.

Go for Eley Olympic trap or First's. Cheap enough, good patterning and gun cleaning easy.
