rayo
Morning folks question please , can you get away with a red filter scope mounted torch for night time rat shooting or do you really need a NV add on or Pard 077 or the like Any advice on the above would be greatly received Thanks in advance guys 👍
B725
Far better using a gun 😁😁 red filters will work but NV is so much better.
strimmer_13
Millions have been shot by lamp light and some times it's the easiest way. Answer to your question. Yes. But nv is a game changer 👍
Ultrastu
If the rats haven't really been shot before then a torch can work . Though they soon wise up and after your initial success will come disapointment
243deer
been shooting rats on the farm for years with a red filtered torch, air rifle and .410. As with any quarry noise, scent and movement are all far more easily detected by creatures of the night. Is night vision a game changer? Well it can be but also from what I have seen some folk get very lazy in remembering basic field craft and results can start to drop off quite quickly. If you go and shoot rats regularly at the same time results will also drop off very quickly - they are fast learners I like the t20 sized torches as they are light and powerful enough for ratting, especially in the lower power 2nd position, plus they are relatively cheap
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, a torch with a red PiL, full beam switch, and dimmer, mine is a ludicrous lumins, 48 night sabre, screen type N/V around £100 although you can make your own set up, pard 007 will need a side focus or AO scope,
