Stealth Stalker
After a few good results out with the gun recently & a need to clear the freezer ready for the forthcoming season I set myself a bit of a challenge. A week of game Monday: Muntjac fillet with a port & mustard jue, boiled pots and veg Tuesday: Game terrine consisting of pheasant, duck, venison, & rabbit layered in a minced meat pigeon & chilli (courtesy of Mungler nice bit of heat ) and wrapped in bacon, served with green beans & mash. Wednesday: Shepherds pie made with venison mince, topped with a crunchy mash, peas & sweetcorn. Thursday: Good old fashioned rabbit stew. Friday: Curry night, pigeon jalfrezi served with basmati rice & naan. Lunch all week has been a cold slab of the above game terrine & the absolutely delicious pigeon, apple & cider pate on toast B) All wild, local, freerange, organic food shot & caught by myself, it dosn't get much better than that A big bag of pigeon breasts has been sent to my mums for conversion in to delicious pies as well. the pelt man
SS there better be a bit of that game terrine left for me to try, i'm holding this Munty liver/calvados pate for ransom so do the right thing and hand it over or the pate gets the knife and i'll spread it all over me wholemeal PELTMAN
pin
When we bumped into you the other night and stealthy was on about the terrine you did look a bit put out I'm sure he's got a slice for you, I have to say for a first go it was quite special
BSA Shaun
This for me epitomises why we hunt. To be able to live off the land and use what you have killed as good hearty meals. Can't think of anything better than pigeon breasts shot by myself over a stir fry of home grown vegetables. Just feeding myself and my family on fresh wholesome food. bernie garland
We have also lived off the land all week: Monday we had courgette soup (courgettes grown on our allotment), Tuesday was roast tomato soup (toms from our greenhouse) both with home baked bread Wednesday was game pie (rabbit, pheasant, partridge and pigeon) pots and runner beans also from our allotment Thursday was goose breast (shot the night before) pots, beans, courgettes and shallots Tonights will be venison jalfreizi as its curry night with chips also from our allotment Bernie
