moondoggy
A classic organ (Hammond Drawbar), with a classic tune, superbly played. Enjoy.
discobob
Reminds me of my Dad, he used to play the organ amongst many other instruments and I can remember him playing this very tune. He even had a go on the one in Blackpool tower. Meanwhile I can't carry a tune in a bag - but it looks to have skipped a generation and my son is very musical!! Scully
Fabulous! Thanks for posting. A friend I have builds organs, and had an extension built to his house so he could build a bigger one!
Gordon R
Always loved the Hammond, but the Lowry was also brilliant - as played by Prestwich's finest son - Alan Haven. Alan and I exchanged a few e-mails up to his death. Never heard a better keyboard player - still playing 3 organs at the same time until the end. He is retired now, but still helps out various churches etc when needed, and has done it for donkies years, from long before I knew him. He is a retired music lecturer. The son of some friends I have in town has just started an apprenticeship with an organ builder in London. They get to travel all over the country. moondoggy
The Hammond Drawbar is still an iconic sound that many have tried to replicate. The biggest contributor to that sound is the Leslie Speaker. It’s a speaker unit with a rotating baffle that revolves at two speeds. If you watch the video closely, you will see him throw a switch just in front of the lower keyboard, this is followed by a change in speed of the reverb. These organs in good condition, can go for thousands of pounds and the same goes for the Leslie speakers.
