Lloyd90
Which one is better, a Larsen or a Ladder trap? Will they both catch the same species? (I know Larsen is usually for magpies). Which is more beneficial? Assume they help increase game bird numbers from wild broods? I have just today put in 3 duck nesting tubes to our shoot with another lad. As we put them in we had wild mallard circling and landing on our pond so that was a good sight to see Not thinking they will get used this year but be nice if they were
Walker570
Magpies learn to climb out of ladder traps as will some jackdaws. Crows only other than a cat....ask me how I know. Larsens for magpies et all. Ladder traps always leava couple in there as decoys and check frequently.

Jim Neal
You'll need to be well away from public interference if you run a ladder trap. Much more easy to see, being bigger, and a lot of work rebuilding if one gets vandalised beyond repair. Mind you a wooden Larsen takes some building, done properly! Making 3 more this year ASAP. Had my duck tubes in for 12 months now so crossed fingers for a brood...

Friend of mine had one destroyed in what he thought was a very remote spot.
