Manish
Lets say both are put through the same gun same choke what would you go for as an all round wildfowling cart?? Due to the extra weight the BB will go further out but by how much and would it be worth the 20 or so less pellets?? Im looking at loading them in a 3.5 inch case. Thanks in advance

Manish
would the #1 get out as far as the bb with the killing power?
Dave at kelton
I use BB 42 gm as the go to goose load in 12. In 10 I will go to BBB through Jan-Feb.
Saltings
i home load and have done for years worth remerging i shoot 2s i think 3.8mm 1/14 oz at 1600 fps kills well consistently and an awesome load 1os 2s at 1700fps they hurt recoil is tough still below superior steel pressures you have do your job and place your shot they are outstanding shoot tight a miss or a kill i load for wildfowling i dont like cripples pattern density multiple strikes with smaller shot is better than one 4.5mm going through and it planeing out for half a mile and dying Ballistic Products - Shotgunner Supplies

I'm just thinking the BB s will hold more energy at distance for a cleaner kill
wigeon jim
1450 fps is plenty fast enough for #1 steel,

In my experience ( far too many to mention now ) perfect combination in Lead and now with all Non Toxic shot. Yes I've got Steel extended specialist chokes but for several seasons now I've gone back to my youth Aya 3" chokes 1/4 an 1/2 mainly 2's and 3's with the odd B's. Bought my Grandson a Aya 3.5 Matador 10ga same choke combination along with shot size . Manish my advice shoot with what you shoot with best gun wise choke wise and shot wise. Pattern and Penetration kill not one or the other don't get hooked on Bigger is better myself and 20 GA has proven that point time and time again . Good luck for the fast approaching season and hope to hear you have scored with the " Sooty Head's " ( Pinks )

Shot and choke is still to be found. I have been at the clay ground with cyl and 1/4. Just changed the cyl for 1/2. Then for shot we shall see come the season. Saying that once the pigeons start heading my way might try em with steel
Dave at kelton
Nobody has mentioned patterning. My wildfowling guns are patterned at 60 yds with a variety of chokes. I am happy with bb in half choke and bbb in full choke which is why I use them. If I am on the bird they are dead! I suggest you pattern the various combinations as it is the only way you will know, and have confidence.

If the thing dont get rounds in a nice tight group make it do so Edited May 31, 2021 by Manish
