amateur
James Grieve In the 60s the family built a house on a derelict Kent orchard, made up of old James Grieves and we kept a couple in the back garden. They were the crispest, tastiest apples that I have ever tasted. They seem to have fallen out of favour now, so may be difficult to source. We have a tree in our orchard and it provides us with apples throughout the winter. Excellent choice but Worcester Permain has to be a close second but ours does not produce the quantity that the James Grieve does.

243deer
I know that they are very seasonal - and early - but I have always liked Discovery as long as they are just ripe. Used to work on a farm that grew them for M & S but we always had to harvest a tad early when the pips were not fully brown.

Walker570
If you have the space then plant a James Grieve, a Spartan and a Russet. I DO NOT give any russets away. Edited September 2, 2021 by Walker570
