Just been reading the Daily Mail, A 14 year old shot a young girl in the face at a distance of 6 feet , the pellet went in above and behind her eye, allmost blinding her! The dep,of public prosecutions has not took him to court saying he was not old enough to know the danger of his actions, He and other louts who put shooting in danger by their imbecile behavior are now causing a lot of general anger by the mainly non shooting public, who will, given the chance to influence their local M P will get all shooting even more draconian laws levelled against it. :D;)

I blame it on video games to many children play the shoot em up games.

I dont, I played violent shooting/fighting games from around 12 years old (as did all my mates) and none of us have turned out like this.

Its more likely that they knew exactly what they were doing and didnt give a ****.

I have played violent shooting games and I am the same as you but not everyone is as responsible. They probably did know what they were doing but they dont give a **** about anyone else.

Jeez, nobody takes responsibility for anything any more.

I burst the tyre of a JCB when I was about 12, quite the master criminal I ran all the way home, pursued by the security guard.

I got such a hiding. It was my parents responsibility to make sure I knew what I had done, to take action and to make good what had gone wrong. No question.

They didn't want to make excuses about nothing for kids to do, no where for them to go, deny I had done it or refuse to accept responsibility.

About time one of these morons parents was taken to task, I bet there wouldn't be so many young people hanging about up to no good - not if the parents were actually made to take responsibility.

I think that children who do this should go to Boot camp. Instead of going to school for a year they should go to Boot camp for a year where they will be forced to do all there homework, bedtime at 9pm, get up early in the morning, **** meals, and a lot of shouting in their ears.

who agrees with me. just an opinion

Educate the kids ,maybe a 1 hour video in school to show the danger of shooting someone.

Thats like the old Don't run with scissors thing but you STILL get people stabbing others!

A Video or lessons in what can happen if you shoot someone won't make a blind bit of difference! They see it in Video games and on TV they KNOW they run the risk of potentially killing someone!

The main cause here is these idiots seem to have a crazy notion Airguns CAN'T kill or seriously injure!!!!!!!

I agree with some others on this thread it's high time Parents were held responsible for letting their kids run riot. I see it every day where I live the Kids come in from school and have their tea and are unceremoniously thrown out till gone 11pm and SOME of these kids are 5 if that!!!!

To little effort is put into raising the kids propperly these days the parents want time alone to shoot up or snort their crack or basically try and forget they have Children!

With SOME parents I wonder why they ever had kids in the first place as you can SEE they just don't WANT to bring them up propper!

I have a PERFECT solution!!

Stop ALL benefits for Parents who's kids run wild and THAT would sharp sort the major part of it out!!

Completely agree its about time parents were held responsible for their kids actions.

I think the media should also be taken to task. Did anyone see that scene on Corrie a week or two ago when young David was shooting holes in Gail's milk bottle and something else (can't remember what) with an air rifle, from the back garden, through the kitchen window?!!!

His TV surname is Platt, think they misspelt it!!

What a bloody silly thing to show on prime time TV at 7:30 pm. Jesus, as if there's not enough bad press for shooters!

And on the other hand I see today a 12 year old has been dragged through the courts on a charge of GBH for pinging another pupil with a paper projectile from an elastic band. I spose because he knew it might sting a bit it was deemed he knew the danger of his actions. We used to do the same thing at school, fold up paper and ping each other. I have a 3 year old son, I may as well start saving now for the legal costs when he gets into rough and tumble games with his school mates.

It seems that our legal system on one hand pursues legalities to their ridiculous logical conclusion and on the other removes individual responsibility for one's actions.
