davewh100
evening all got my renewal for firearms and shotgun on Saturday which both run out 17 oct 2022, fill most of it in and took the medical forms to my local medical centre, was told could take between 7/8 weeks at a cost of £35 which is very reasonable and want it up front in cash, i said why so long just to be told it's done in there spare time, is there any quicker way how long as others waited

222mark
£26.25 and four weeks. Only because the doctor was on holiday at the time. Usually they take two weeks they said. The fee should be standardised though as they seem to be pulling figures out of a hat. I've heard anything from free to £80.
davewh100
seems its £35 for passport £45 for firearms to be done by the doctor asked why this was no answer, he's forgot i look after his coffee machine with service/repair it's just doubled in price 😉
Poor Shot
To all those who have a GP that will fill out the forms at any cost just be thankful that they do offer the service. My GP won't entertain filling out private medical forms of any nature (not just firearms related) for some unknown reason. Doesn't make sense really as they still have to provide a photo copy of the records to a third party for no charge which is arguably more work than a simple quick flick through a medical record and a signature on the proforma form. Unless they are able to charge some ridiculous fee to the NHS for completing a medical records request?

I would be using another practice.
