Good Post.

Its not surprising people are getting fed up with this countrys generosity being abused by streams of economic migrants.

But I believe we need to remember that genuine refugees have come from desperate life and death situations, anything we can do to assist until they can return to their home counties once/if safe is fine by me.

I never have and never will have a problem with that. 👍

Henry. I can't claim £40 a bloody month.

Neither can I as I am on a pension and I presume you have some form of income too? Would you prefer that they get their money from the black economy?

No idea what you see on your ROSE garden but I see a completely different story .

I enquired about what benefits are available, not personally for me but for staff i manage. Using my details as reference and IF i was unemployed my basic claim allowance was less than £40 a month.

And for the record i had not mentioned anything about Ukraine anywhere in my posts.

We keep on offering free hand outs to everyone and all that appears on our shores, what we are doing is saving the world of free grabbers at the cost of our own social standing.

There only so much in the pot.

Here's what I put in, unemployed etc...

The OP isn't something I've encountered, I've helped the family living with me and the following is what I've experienced:

Mum & children registered with local GP without issue, children got NHS numbers within weeks and mum still doesn't have one after 5 months (makes sense that children are prioritised).

Both children got a school\6th form place easily enough, no help with costs of uniform etc (but the same offer of equipment as any low earning family).

No local dentist will take any of them on but they can be referred if they have any issues.

The mum is working (remote job but has been recently informed that the contract may not be renewed on Jan 1st).

The mum does qualify for universal credit (no idea how much as it's not my business).

They did get an initial £400 (one payment for whole family) spread over 5 weeks so they could buy food and clothes, these people arrived here with the clothes on their back and a small backpack of what they could grab.

In the next few weeks\months the local council will help them with their own accommodation,  I have no idea if it's subsidised or not but I suspect it will have to be otherwise it's unaffordable (even here in the North East).

They really aren't getting things thrown at them and jumping queues, some maybe but certainly not all.
