Ultrastu
Bsa have a new bsa out this weekend . It's the bolt action version of the r12 clx Pro. Which came with a side lever This also does away with the adjustable cheek piece and comes with a standard sized 200 cc bottle, and will hopefully be a bit cheaper than the pro . I like the sound of this but being regulated I think I'd still be more interested in a scorpion clx . Bsa 's web site has some good info on it . And goes on to state that after so much feed back on the sideleaver pro version decided to reintroduce the bolt to the standard r12 . I have to agree with this 100 % Bsa 's bolt is beautifully done . 51/50
Very nice but i bet it's bloody expensive!,it certainly appeals to me more than the side lever version,i wonder if the revamped regulator will prove to be more reliable than BSA's previous efforts?,my R10 reg **** itself at the start of the year hence the rifle was shipped off to Ratworks, wouldn't part with it now. You're not keen on regulated PCP's then @Ultrastu?
bruno22rf
I cannot help but wonder why BSA dont knock this poor Reg reliability issue on the head and get whoever makes Robert Lane's Regs to make theirs?
Ultrastu
Maybe they have ? No I'm not keen on regs I'm not sold on the fact they are needed .I have only one regged gun my wildcat which has been good .but everything else doesn't have one . And I've not seen these pcps be any less accurate or or have any significant poi shift across its shot fill . For example .an old mmc bsa ultra .22 had a claimed shot count of 50 . So setting a target at 45 yds ( max range I consider for a .22 sub 12 ) And drawing 10 1 inch circles on a card .I proceed to shoot 5 shot groups . 190 bar fill and the first five land in the 1 inch circle all be it at the lower end of that circle .continue to shoot 5 shot groups into the next series of circles . All of them landing inside it . Groups around 140 bar being at he top of the circle but still in it. Continue down to 90 bar for the last group of 5 shots 45 - 50 and they land in the circle again towards the bottom . Any groups after that and with an audible change in muzzle tone the pellets start to drop out the bottom. This is perfectly acceptable. The big problem with regs is that they can be very unreliable .it's an expensive option that seems to give more down sides than up imo. I have pcps that I might get out of the cabinet one a year . Try them out on the range or take them straight into the field for a hunt .First shot - dead .the power is correct and the zero spot on I've got at least 2 bsa ultras that I've not even touched the scope turrets in years .they hold zero seemingly indefinatly - who can say that about their regged gun .? JKD
1 hour ago, Mice! said: I could say it, but I'd be asking for trouble 🤣🤭 Then I'd be in trouble too 🤨😂 Had my ultra regged by Simon in his workshop on the side of his house in Derby. It's never missed a beat since, and I've never had to touch the scope, except to clean it of course 😄
Ultrastu
Oh to be fair my regged fx has been brilliant . So I'm not against regged guns and I understand the increased shot count due to an ability of the gun to work at higher starting presures and the shot to shot consistency and consistency across the whole fill .it's great and when working well a reg is awesome . It's just the issues that come with them and keeping them doing what they are supposed to do . And the difference between a regged gun and a well set up and balanced valve gun isn't much . And is that difference worth the potential loss in reliability . As valved guns tend to be very consistent for years with little to go wrong . 51/50
I've never needed to touch the turrets on my R10 either,i personally wouldn't have an un-regged PCP,i like to try & keep things simple,i'm at ease knowing i don't have to worry about the 'sweet spot',the less i've got to worry about the better,a simple thing like pellet testing recently proved enough to fry my head, waiting for calm evenings or weekends, testing loads of pellets, narrowing it down, deciding on a brand, size & weight then realising the pellets i want are near impossible to obtain!,big thank you to H&N for buying over Prometheus & halting production of Defiants/Sniper Light!,anyway,i'm about to mail order a couple of thousand Falcon Accuracy Plus at an eye watering price 😭

H&N bought over Prometheus & re-badged the Defiants as H&N Sniper Light then for unbeknown reasons stopped producing them completely,i contacted H&N a few years ago asking why & they couldn't give a definitive reason,i'm now using Falcon Accuracy Plus,my R10 Mk2 (now Ratworks tuned) is very accurate with the Falcons.
