neutron619
Hello Chaps. As in the title. Am considering getting one of these as a Christmas present for myself but I'd like to know if they are steel proofed? N.b. I know they have 3" chambers and are "superior" proofed - what I specifically want to know is whether the barrels are stamped with the fleur-de-lys for HP steel proof. And just in case you missed it above, I'm talking about the 20 gauge version, not 12. Thanks in advance to anyone who can confirm / refute the presence of that marking. bruno22rf
One of their Ads mentions that the chokes are steel proofed so I'm guessing the tubes are?
neutron619
Agreed, that would make sense. I have to say it wasn't entirely clear from the manufacturer website and I'm still curious whether they go through Birmingham but it sounds like they're probably "future proof"... 👍

May i suggest go second hand beretta or browning or miroku and never worry about the gun again

Doesn’t necessarily follow I’m afraid. Most Teague chokes are steel shot proofed….I have two sets for two different guns which are steel shot proofed, but neither gun is. At the shooting shoe earlier this year, I dribbled over a Mk 38 with a full set of Teagues, and when the conversation got around to the inevitable, he told me that although the gun was only nitro proofed, the chokes were steel shot proofed, thereby negating the necessity to have the gun proofed for steel. 🙂 Try telling that to a RFD you’re trying to PX your nitro gun to! 😄 Anyhow, what difference does it make? They’re all capable of steel shot, so just crack on.

Why would a manufacturer supply steel proofed chokes with a gun that wasn't proofed for steel ?, the Ad states that the chokes supplied are good for the hard stuff. The chokes don’t necessarily come with the gun. There are many nitro proofed guns out there that it is possible to buy steel shot proofed chokes for. The 20g will only get the Fleur de lys stamp when imported and checked by the proof house if the importer has requested it. The guns are all suitable for HP steel up to half choke, whether or not they have a Fleur de lys stamp as they are destined for world markets including the USA where Steel is standard for wild fowling. You could always call them to confirm.... 0 (232) 878 91

Some kind of missunderstanding here - the Advert for the Gun says that the included chokes are steel proofed. This is for a new gun in the Hatsun advert. My mistake.

Well, I could I suppose, but if I then don't decide to buy it I'd feel I'd have wasted their time. And also, there's this pigeon-shooting forum where people can ask and answer questions, so I thought I'd - you know - use that... 16 hours ago, Stonepark said: The 20g will only get the Fleur de lys stamp when imported and checked by the proof house if the importer has requested it. Thanks. 👍
