ShootingEgg
So I have seen and now impulse bought a 28guage OU side plate SKB. I love shooting my 410 and thought I'd add to my small bore collection. Anyone on here used SKB at all. Not alot about them online.
Bobba
I started a topic on “SKB - made in Japan”. Scroll down the topics a bit. Mine is a 12 bore sxs. I’ve had the stock altered + kickeezee to increase the LOP. It does thump a bit so I will try a few different softer cartridges to find what suits me best. SKB USA do have a website with the history of the Co.

Gunman
Now made like so many other shotguns in Turkey . Skb have a checkered past history of which is all available on Google . In the past I think that they tended to copy/ alter/ adapt others designs . Their SxS looked to be an updated and modified Webley 700 for instance . If they are now made in Turkey I expect they will be similar to several other guns on the market .
ShootingEgg
Proofed in 2008 so could be either Japan or turkey for origin. 5 hours ago, Gunman said: Now made like so many other shotguns in Turkey . holloway
The Japanese factory didn’t close till late 2009 so it should be a Japanese one ….. well I have been looking through the Skb old catalogue list and I can’t find an 805 anywhere however I can find the 885 side plate that was last made in 1994 can’t find another side plate after that .Maybe Ladds got the number wrong ? Really interested to find out, Tgs outdoors did a video on the old Jap Skbs on YouTube he rates them quite highly both the Sid by sides and the over and understand. Only one proof mark and think its 2008 so very strange. Is one of those things that will be hard to date as there is very little about them. It's an NA serial number. It's an over and over so maybe different again. All very interesting and a I do love a unique gun and that's one reason I had to have it... ShootingEgg
Picked the gun up today, and wow. It looks new. Turns out it sold brand new in 2012 at a holts auction, doesn't even look like its fired a cartridge. The barrel looks brand new inside. All chokes not in the barrel are not even used Edited January 26, 2023 by ShootingEgg

So a hens tooth indeed
Gordon R
Handled one in Malmo guns, some years ago. Looked very well engineered, with a substantial lock-up. That looks a beauty.

You will see from my earlier SKB topic that the guy in SKB USA say they have info on NA serial No’s. It may be worth a punt emailing him to see if they have info on your serial No. Just a thought. Scully
That does indeed look a top quality piece of kit! There’s nothing quite like finding a sleeper like that, in its original box. Well done you.
ShootingEgg
So took it out today for beaters day, it handles lovely, had some cracking shots but also some shockers haha. Thought it didnt have a barrel selection but last drive I noticed the button on trigger, also the non ejected turns out it is and it throws them over your shoulder haha.
