harrycatcat1
I saw a video of a chap who roasted some tinned potatoes and sliced tomatoes with balsamic vinegar and olive oil mixed and they looked nice. I did some with parsnips as well as. The parsnips were lovely and the roast potatoes and tomatoes were rubbish tasting. The rest of the traditional dinner was good 👍 beef done in the slow cooker, mash potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts, sweetheart cabbage, Asda Yorkshire puddings and a teensy weensy bit of gravy. Spr1985
I’m not normally one for taking pictures of food but, every once in a while that changes. The wife put this in front of me the other day (pre gravy) and it was delicious. I may also have consumed another Yorkshire pud and a couple of extra roast potatoes to 🤣
marsh man
Those above dinners look lovely but we stopped having Sunday roast dinners many , many years ago , we found them taking up most of the Sunday , I was nearly always out, or we were both going out for a ride up the coast , sitting on the sea front at Wells or Cromer on a nice warm day eating fresh fish and chips is my ideal Sunday dinner and the roast can wait till Monday night Hope you all enjoyed it and had a brisk walk afterwards to reduce the calorie intake

Talking about gravy salt , my grand daughter have now gone to Australia for three years , I sent her a Email to see how she was getting on and if she wanted anything , she replied back and said the only thing she wanted was some gravy salt but apparently you are not allowed to send that to or in Australia , how right this is I don't know but I am sure somebody on the forum will know about these sort of things and pass there knowledge on . ditchman
i try not to use stock cubes....if i do i only use half ..as they are so full of salt....when you dont add salt to food you become very aware of the salty taste when you do....also adding salt to food whilst cooking is a cop out...if you want to add taste dont take the short cut by adding salt ...change you ingrediants... I disagree, the body needs an amount of salt to work properly, not much, but some all the same.

When I had my small stroke in 2018, I was told to change my diet. I did this as instructed and then started to get an increasing amount of cramp. Did some research and re thought my approach to the stuff. Now I keep it in my diet and add more if I have been out walking all day.

My wife put the beef in the slow cooker in the morning and I forgot all about preparing the vegetables until 3pm but we were still eating the dinner before 4.30 so it doesn't have to take up most of Sunday. If we have a ride to the coast we go in the week. I leave the weekends for the workers 😉

I leave the weekends for the workers 😉 Certainly won't do for all of us to be the same Harry , or would it , another thing I found hard getting used to Sunday dinners was we were both working days during the week and having evening meals at night , sometimes as late as 8pm and very rarely earlier than 7pm , when we were first married I was doing a lot of small building jobs when I left off my main job to make ends meet and if you were plastering a wall or a ceiling you couldn't really pop home for tea until it was finished , so we either had a late dinner / tea , or mine went into the micro when I got home , so after getting used to having our meal in the evening for six nights of the week we found neither of us were hungry enough for a early afternoon meal on a Sunday , which was our only day we would go out with each other, now 48 years years after we tied the knot we are still doing exactly the same when it come to meal time , so as they say , If it ain't broke then there is no need to mend it
