London Best
Very delicate, sort of mushroom flavour. Quite soft to eat. Been eating them whenever I find them for over thirty years. We had a beaut ten days ago, sliced and fried with some proper thick bacon and some eggs. Must say, we’ve never put one in a pie before, but I have every confidence it will be fine. Don’t suppose the rabbit will complain.
harrycatcat1
I had to Google it, I don't think that I'd have the confidence to pick the right one and eat it.
Centrepin
I used to find them on the ranges at Hythe in the early to mid 70s, very common and fair sized. Very tasty. Not seen any in years now. Round here anything found is either poisonous, beefsteak fungus or unidentifiable.
Scully
Get some huge ones around here, but the tastiest ( and cleanest ) are those found when they’re no bigger than a tennis ball, or at a push a bowling ball.
