Well, John, having already posted that you can get DVLA to send you an email reminder, I thought, out of interest, to go on the DVLA website to confirm that mine is due at the end of August. I`m glad I did as to my horror, I found that it had expired and ran out on 1st.August.

A couple of minutes on their website and I`m up and legal again.

Can I therefore put this forgetfulness down to old age

So I am glad that I looked on pigeon watch today and am grateful to MM and those pointing out that not everyone gets reminders, as I didn`t.

So many thanks to Marsh man and other PW members.

Incidently, there was a question on there `Did you get a reminder?` with a possible `YES` or `NO` answer, so I`m guessing that the DVLA realise that not everyone is getting a reminder.

HI  Chris ...     Looking at the numbers that didn't get a reminder then I am sure there will be several people driving around with a car that is un taxed , would having a car untaxed on the road make the insurance void if you were unlucky enough to have a accident :hmm:

Yes, John, I’m pretty sure that an untaxed car invalidates the insurance but prepared to be corrected on this.

Just checked this and it’s at the discretion of the insurance company.

An untaxed car is a civil matter, I think. But if the insurance company then invalidates the insurance, it would become a criminal offence.?
