pavman
I was chatting to starlight32 the othernight and we were saying what a good time was had by all on Monday madness, and thought we would try to organise something over the xmas period for a bit of a get together. Now obviously it is xmas and time should be spent with families, but lets face it we all need to get some fresh air at some point. Also due to xmas finance's may be a bit tight, so nothing on the scale of Monday madness, more of a general get together for a few clays and maybe the odd pint somewhere or not. Anybody fancy a trip up to highlodge over the xmas period for a cheeky round, somehwre the PW massive hasn't yet swooped on mass to. SS WIll this be like the fishing trip??? NorfolkBoy
I could put on a demonstration on how close you can get to the clay without breaking it, trust me I am an expert Ditto - been practising for years to get to my current level
LEFTY478
I can't do the 28th as I'm taking number 1 & 2 nephew for a shooting lesson for their Xmas present, but I'm up erh, 'in' for the 27th (subject to my social events secretary confirming no other conflicts). Is it turn up, pay then play or do we need to pre-book?
Mungler
I would suggest Dartford - easy for everyone to get to. Any day is good for me.
Catamong
In my experience, clay grounds that are open for business in the period between Christmas & New Year can get very busy, so you may need to book. I'd be up for Dartford or High Lodge, having been cruelly robbed of certain victory at Bisley, but do check with the ground first..!! Cat. simonp
Definatley up for it on the 27th depending if I'm shooting on Boxing day or not (as to whether I can get a shooting pass from the boss). Si

I doubt it Pavman, this is after all a shooting forum, mind you if you're up for a spot of beach fishing over the festive season, I'll happily meet up with you somewhere on the sunny Suffolk coastline to wet a line, maybe you could show me how to cast the bloody multiplier of mine properly  SS

Dartford I think  From what I have seen of the pics taken, JJ's is a saturday/sunday only ground with no proper facilities (I may be wrong). Bearing that in mind a trip to a bonafide clay ground is preferable meaning we get to sit down in the warm and get decent grub. Grub being the mainstay of any PW massive meetup. I will enquire at Highlodge this week and report back about costs etc. SS

I've been spoilt in the US cos anywhere WITHOUT good food, roaring log fires, hot and cold running waitresses sounds like roughing it to me. Markio
So we're looking at the 27th then? Maybe if the venue can't be decided then we could leave it to a poll?

starlight32
Someone (Starlight32 I think) not queer quite keen on West Kent, too. Worth consideration? I fancied west Kent purely because I felt I was able to rub shoulders with some real large wealthy people like I did on the meet up. I ain'nt seen a car park full of motors like that up this neck of the woods since the Duchess of Kent opened my local swimming pool in 1989. There was defo some 'large' people, I couldn't comment on their wealth, though. However, it did seemed like an awful lot of wealth may have been spent on pies, during the preceeding years. We just need to let if know how many we are? My concern is that middle of winter, rain, snow, wind and sitting out in a quarry don't really go hand in hand. If we go to Highlodge or A N Other ground, we really ought to be looking for somwhere that has good indoor facilities where we can wait for everyone to turn up in the warm, go shooting, come in have lunch and warm up again before if need be going out to shoot again and then getting a warming cup of Coffee etc at the end before departing back to our loved ones. If everybody wants to go to JJ's then so be it, but my personnel preference is for somwhere a bit warmer if need be. Notoverly concerned about travel distance, just think we ought to have abit more comfort at hand if we need it. Those who attended Lakenheath beginning of the year, will attest to the bitter cold, even though we went and warmed up in the good facilities there. SS By the way MC tells me that West kent is shut over the xmas period and even if it wasn't the two mondays co-inside with Xmas eve and New years eve, not a good idea travelling anyway on those days. Mungler
Dartford SG it is then! They have the best club house on the planet. They are not however in Suffolk and I look forward to SS reasoned response as to why this shooting ground should be rejected, strangely enough for a shooting ground either in Suffolk and or on his door step.
