Computer problem

I recently had a new computer built for me by a friend. I had a DVD/CD drive installed, but recently, it's stopped playing discs automatically, in fact, when the disc is installed, I cannot find a way of playing it. I haven't changed any settings and when I checked them, the 'autoplay' is on. I'm not sure what's gone wrong?

Switch it off, count to 50, switch it back on again.

No, it's OK. Just a little secret that I learned about 50 years ago. 🤣🤣

That about sums up the limit of my knowledge.

  • I have a son that specialises in IT. No help whatsoever. 🤣

Why not!

Something to do with capacitors or condensors that lurk around storing thingies that need their urges releasing.

aahhh that explains it all very nicely

30 plus years in it has taught me never to underestimate switching it off.

second rule never underestimate telling users they will have to wait 20 minutes before I get back to them on an issue- you’d be surprised how many will actually follow the supplied instructions and fix there own issues and all sorted when I ring them back.
