Subsonic .410 loads

Recommended Posts

I’m after a subsonic .410 load using 2, 2.5 or 2 3/4” cases. Doesn’t need to be a particularly heavy load as it’s just for shooting rats out to 7/8 yards in the garden mostly under that range. 12/14 grams of 7 or 8 shot would be ideal. I have tubs of SP3 and Alliant steel powder so was wondering if that would be of any use. Can be either plastic or fibre wad.

Thanks

Ben

obvious question...why not use an air rifle?

You Can't pack shoot the blighters with an air rifle. AND with the price of pellets  it might be cheaper to pack shoot them with a 12 bore.

To the OP. I am at postcode LE9 2BN and have one box of twenty-five, at least, of 2" #9 Lyalvale .410". If they would like them come over, collect....with valid SGC...and dash me £5.00. The 9mm RF I found with Eley were useless as they used # 7 1/2 shot so the pattern was poor. The other suggestion might be to look at using cut down rimmed all brass cases...such as .45 Colt and use a cut down plaswad and over that a thick card wad them form a crimp in the normal .45 Colt crimper die. The only problem is, now, getting pistol primers if you do not have a valid FAC. I also have one of the Henry Krank plastic bottles of #9 shot that I'd be happy to sell at what it cost me which was £42.00 some time ago.
