Party political placards

This is not about politics at all. It's just a factual observation.   I  live in an area that has always been Conservative.  In past elections there have been virtually no  labour posters.  An odd Liberal poster and quite a lot of Conservative posters and placards in front gardens. But this year it's all changed... loads of labour posters and flag banners.. the odd Liberal poster and placard, but virtually zero Conservative posters.  Strange.

I don't think that posters and placards are seen as effective in these days of 'on-line' activism.  We have a (very) few LibDem ones in one of the relatively few remaining 'safe' Tory seats.  I have not seen any others in my travels.

The neighbouring constituency (I live very near the boundary) was formerly 'safe' Tory, but now considered marginal between Tory and LibDem.  There are rather more LibDem posters there, but still not many by past standards and again no Tory, possibly a rare Labour one or two.  However, there has been a really massive and concentrated drive in local social media groups - usually largely non-political - by LibDems for 'tactical voting' to remove the long standing Tory MP, the basis being that 'only' the LibDem stands a chance of unseating the Tory, thus asking all Labour, Green, Reform supporters to vote LibDem with the sole purpose of defeating the Tory.  The use (almost takeover) of local social media (more usually comprising of missing cats/bicycles/keys/clothing and charity Coffee Morning/jumble sale notices etc.) pretty much exclusively by the LibDem campaign has in itself been controversial.

Now you know why I do none of the Local Social Media CARP.....

Nearly none of this pointless political advertising around this area, (Peterborough, Cambs) that I have seen, though in past years every farmer would have loads of Conservative supporting placards around many of the farms.

Zilch so far and NOTHING for any of the other party's.

Sounds weird I know, I have family in cambs & party placards just seem to be more of a ‘thing’ there than down in the South West.

That said I had to go to Bristol yesterday, plenty of Labour & Green ‘estate agents’ signs in people’s front gardens.
