Did they not give you any aftercare advice? I would imagine they should have given you some leaflets on how to regain flexibility and strength in your rotator cuff muscles. Bearing in mind they will have been shaving off bone or a calcified deposit there will likely still be some inflammation in the joint. Just don't let them give you a steroid injection!!

Hi

has anyone had this shoulder procedure done?

I am RH and have had my left shoulder operated on 8 weeks ago,

any opinions and advice please, I shoot a 20 and 12 bore mainly at game with occasional clays.

thanks Dave

I had the same plus a rotator cuff re attachment on 4th July. Keep moving it as far as you can regularly in all directions, I’m undergoing physio, assume you are too?

I’m being told to work on movement and range and not to do anything strength related until 12 weeks post op.

You must have gone private. Today's NHS physio consist of being handed out a spread sheet at most.

I have regular physio and  have every leaflet under the sun, however these don’t advise how long it will take before my shotgun feels like 8 lb and not 60 lb, hopefully things will feel better soon🤷‍♀️

I am 77 years old and struggling with 3 broken back bones which were caused by lifting heavy furniture some 18 months ago,it took 4 weeks just to get a back xray and 6 months before I was seen by a specialist as I  had to have bone density scan first.I  was told i would have to give myself daily stomach injections for 2 years to improve the spine bones. I was originally given a tablet called ricedone and have now been told i can't  have the injections untill these have been out of my system for 6 months. So by the time February  comes around it will be 1 year and 11 months before my treatment will begin. I am self medicating on paracetamol with no other assistance from the NHS. I  truly believe the NHS is on its knees and feel totally let down by the delaying tactics. I  have managed to shoot but only an odd 25 clays, the pain seems to be more in my arms and not my back when shooting my Beretta 12 bore but I  still am in constant pain mostly when just standing still. Good luck to you and I  am pleased you are getting help, I  seem to be just fobbed off

Yes, wherever possible I limit NHS interaction to emergencies and issues of a personal nature with my GP. The private physio is, let’s just say, not my kind of person so I’m seeing one who is known to me and a friend.

Or an email with attachments  !   😆

I am going for my first bout of physio on Friday . I have declined the steroid injection.  I went through all of this about 6 years ago, including an operation. This is round 2.

I do regular exercises, using my gun. I lift my gun off the bed with both arms outstretched,  raise it above my head, then lower it again. I do this 10 times. I then mount the gun to my shoulder, swinging right to left 10 times. Then repeat going left to right 10 times. Then repeat the entire thing. I set the kitchen timer to 5 minutes. I can do 4 sets of the three exercises in 5 minutes. I try to do this twice a day. I started doing this during lockdown, just to keep my 'shooting muscles' toned. I was using a ProSport back then, that weighed just under 9lbs. I have switched to a  lighter gun, my current gun being 8lbs.
