Come Monday ( yesterday ) the plumber turned up dead on time , he put a bend on my pipe and then a converter to copper from plastic , he ran the new copper pipe along my skirting and drilled through to my bathroom where he fitted a new stop tap and joined up to the existing , a very neat job and the inside was all finished , all he had to do now was connect my new pipe to the meter box , only one pipe was showing on the side pointing towards my house , it had a 90 degree bend on it that went into the ground to marry up to another 90 degree bend that joined into Black plastic pipe , what he was going to do was to turn the first 90 degree bend up and then join mine into , he undone the nut and there was no play so he cut through the small bit of Blue plastic and then disaster , he had sawed through the inlet and not the outlet , we had no option but to call out the water company as the water was now running down my road , I must say they were brilliant , a chap rang straight back to say someone will look at it in about a half an hour , true to his word he turned and only laughed , he then called another gang and they were at mine within a hour , they pumped the hole out and reversed a new meter chamber with my pipe on the side of my house and the inlet on the side of the road , they connected my pipe and at long last I was back on H2O again , two water company chaps came this morning and backfilled the hole and cemented a course of brick weave bricks so the tarmac boys who are coming tomorrow have got a clean edge to come up to . So after a very stressful two weeks it is 80 percent finished and my driveway should be back to normal over this weekend , yesterday when I saw the water jetting out I had no more stress left in me and I just took it with a pinch of salt , I just could not imagine so many things could go wrong with a leak in a water pipe , pity it was mine although I wouldn't wished some poor ole pensioner like me to go through what I have over the last ten months , maybe the tide have changed , unless I get the bill in for calling them out , still I will worry about that when the time , if or when it come

TIGHTCHOKE
Gordon Bennett, so now all that is left to do is a bit of redecoration and await the repayment of the massive over billing for your water that was keeping the local water table topped up. I cannot see a big refund coming my way , the letter below was from the 8th of October and I got it this afternoon , they said although the meter was old it worked o k , there words not mine , I never got a visit from the leakage team , I did consult my insurance and plumber straight away and as you know my insurance were very little help , even at this stage ( which is now all but finished ) we still didn't find the old mains pipe either from the meter box or from the outside of my bungalow , we now have a feeling it run side by side with my next door neighbour and cut across my driveway somewhere but I certainly wasn't going to dig my next door neighbours up and the same with the rest of my driveway so re routeing it ended up the best option , I did ask the young chap who came first yesterday to ask if I am likely to get a bill for the call out and he said he will put it down as a leaking meter chamber and that will save a lot of paperwork , so hopefully I might get away with it and I will get give them the answers they want with a meter reading after two weeks , location of the leak and the date when it was repaired , so time will tell and for now I will wait and see . shaun4860
Ouch! They will now say that any refund due will be cancelled out by the call-out charges and the fact you just emptied the reservoir 🤦🏻♂️ Glad it’s nearly sorted ✔️

That looks ok in that they should give you a refund for at least the lost water (50%?) of the bill for however long its been leaking. If not that would at the very least be my starting point for a claim. From their perspective. It's not worth arguing for a few quid. image and reputation has a high value. To be honest I cannot fault the water company in how they have responded to my issues , I will give them the information they require after two weeks of normal usage and then play it by ear , if it is one sided on there part by sending me a bill for what was in theory our fault then I will try to get a decent refund to offset it , if I don't hear no more about the call out then I will happily accept whatever come my way and then let sleeping dogs lie , even getting a normal bill will be a relief May I take this opportunity to THANK all the members for there help and support and it's nice to know there are a lot of people willing to give there time to those that need it .
