welsh1
Strange how the day pans out, this morning i had an appointment with the ENT consultant to discuss the results of a scan of my left ear to see if the neural pathways were damaged after an accident in the 90's left me with very bad tinntus. Well it turns out that my neural pathways are in fine form and the tinnitus is something that was a result of the accident and that's that. But then he said we found something else in your right side of your brain called an arachnoid cyst, he tells me straight away that he has been doing this a long time and he thinks it's benign but he's sending the scan to the big boys in Cardiff for their opinion just in case, and he is booking me a scan for a years time to see if it gets bigger. It turns out it's something i might have been born with (it's quite common apparantly) and never have noticed. I took it all in asked the relevant questions, and was happy with my treatment, he had a trainee there and used me as a test piece which i didn't mind, it kind of distracted from the moment in a good way. But now i am at home woking on the laptop instead of going back to the office, it gives me time to think how fragile life can be and how quickly things change, only 3 weeks ago my MIL was very ill, we had her funeral on thursday. I am a fatalist, what will be will be ,and i will just get on with it one way or another, and the consultant seems to think things are all good so that's good. I don't know where i am really going with this , just needed to ramble a bit and where better than on here lol. Life, it's a strange old game. JKD
Yup, our bodies are strange, and can hide all sorts of 'issues' that may never be revealed. Hope your cyst diagnosis turns out to be 'nothing' 👍 My story, similar, as in was born with 'something', involves my intestines 😳 One evening 3 years ago, I suddenly had severe stomach pains. The next morning the pain was off the scale !!! EXCRUCIATING 😬 Ambulance to the hospital,,,, "don't know why you're in pain". Scans and Xrays showed,,,, nothing 🤔 Day and a half on a ward getting pumped full of morphine and others,,,, "As we don't know what is going on, we are going to have to operate !" HOLEY SCHMOLEY 😳 Woke up from the op in ETU,,,, pumped full of morphine and other things [felt high and happy,,,, and painless]. Day and a half later back up to the ward. Doctors and surgeon visit,,,, "A part of your intestine had 'flipped', but looked normal in the scans,,,, so 2 hours in theatre delving in there found that you had been born with that particular part of the intestine the 'other way around', hence when it flipped, it looked normal, but created the blockage". There was a slim chance I wouldn't have made it and left the hospital in a box,,,, but 'they' did their thing and I'm still here,,,, still smiling 😊 We never know do we, until,,,,,,,,, ATVB 👍🙃 Edited December 10 by JKD
marsh man
Nobody know what lay ahead in life and we know it will not last forever , my outlook in life changed forever when my wife passed away a matter of hours after spending the day out shopping together , from that day I have tried to make the most of each day however you prefer spending it . GOOD LUCK welsh 1 into your unknown journey and hopefully it will be a smooth journey for the foreseeable future . JohnfromUK
I hope all goes well. I had a session in hospital (one of these 'get someone to drive you to A&E NOW' instructions from Dr.) during Covid (late 2020 and not related to Covid) but suffice it to say that 'whatever' was making me ill responded to a cocktail of IV antibiotics over a few days - and I never got to the real root cause, but have fortunately been fine since. Stuck in hospital on a forrest of drips and monitors does make you think a bit! Planned follow ups to investigate were cancelled (allegedly due to Covid pressures) and since I'm still well (at 4 years on), they don't want to take it up again.
