From te pics I conclude the "very bad" are the most accurate apart from one that was on a secret mission.

Somehow failed to add the actual picture of the deformed pellets these are 8 of the “very bad “ which like you say . Seem to be the most consistent and accurate 😂😂

I would say those 8 pellets  are fine .I probably  would shoot them in a competition  or trying to hunt super long  range rabbits but for everything else I'd just shoot em .as you have found a bit of skirt damage  doesn't really make any difference .take a look at a retrieved pellet that's been caught gently .(loads of loose rags works well ) and you will see how much the pellet skirt balloons out wards, a little dent is insignificant  .

I wouldn't have put those pellets in a magazine yet alone shot them.

It's one thing to shoot at paper, but I certainly wouldn't shoot at a squirrel with those.

Looking at those I'd guess they went in the tin like that, I'd email AA and I'd let the shop know.

I'll not use some pellets because the skirts are so thin they deform easily and they look thin.

I'd agree with the above, as it looks like you mixed up the bad with the very bad pellets, looking at those pictures 🤔😆 At the end of the day, a lot of it is down to confidence that the damage won't affect the POI very much at all, if any.

But,,,, I'd agree that that percentage isn't acceptable.

I used to have the same with my .22 Falcon Accuracy plus, test fired some slightly damaged ones without any issues re the POI, but the percentage per tin wasn't very high.

Thanks for taking the time out of your festivities 👍🥳:drinks:

I’ve stopped worrying about deformed skirts on pellets. True, I don’t spend time punching paper, all my use is devoted to killing grey squirrels. I’ve not found a scrap of difference to the killing effect on a squirrel whether the pellet be deformed or not. 90% of my shooting is with a 20+ year old FX Verminator Mk1 FAC running at 26 ft/lb in 22. I’ve been comparing it with a 177 sub 12. TBH the trajectory is pretty similar. I still like the extra thump that I get with the FAC 22, using JSB Hades. The squirrels probably don’t agree.

I can’t believe you think they are ok!  And I’m not saying like I think you’re wrong …

your clearly right !

I thought they were absolute shockers !
and as my original post went I had to check if this was the new “Norm “.

I  havnt shot in a few years and if I’m honest my old s200 only shot  RWS superdome and hobby .
Hence still having a couple of tins , and I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever found more than the odd one or 2 per tin . And at that rate you just throw them . I never ever considered a deformed pellet as being remotely accurate I just assumed it was dead .

turns out you are correct ! And the proofs in the pudding with yesterday’s testing !

this is my grouping so far with a few pellet types . Not overly impressed at 30M with anything other than the old faithful hobby’s !

Hobbys are an excellent  pellet .I have a couple of guns that they are the best pellet in. Though I do use them for shorter range plinking and ratting .

The air arms pellets don't seem to be quite as accurate  in your gun as they could be .I dont think that's the pellets fault, just a compatability  issue .maybe your magazine Is shaving a bit of that soft lead off when loading the gun (and the harder rws lead doesn't) worth a look .

Maybe try some h+n pellets - field target trophy are always worth a try .these are a bit harder lead than jsb/aa . But softer than rws .

I was testing pellets and had results similar to yours except some JTS Dead Center pellets where 5 went down the same hole. I was very impressed with that.

Of course this doesn't mean your gun will like them but mine appears to.

Not sure if you are aware but JS Ramsbottom do a mixed pack of JSB pellets for testing. Excellent company to deal with, pellets arrive very quick and very well packed, I doubt the ones they send would get much damage in transit.

Yes, I second that comment about JS Ramsbottom, I was dealing with them before they relocated to the Fylde and went mail order only. Very well packaged postal service.

Ive got a Sinclair concentricity gauge if your interested, and comparator to check Ogive  😅

As mentioned earlier, i would shoot them at normal range's, it would be interesting to see if the skirts blew out during the firing. I've had pellets with small 1/2 round holes missing in the skirts before, they were not damaged in transit but damaged in the forming process.
