Barbour waxed leggings

Morning all and happy Christmas.

I was wondering if Barbour have stopped making their waxed leggings? Does anyone know?

I am in need of a new pair and having tried some other brands I think the Barbour ones are far and away the best available but I am finding them hard to get online and there are none in the local shops. Years ago you could have got them anywhere but when I did a search very few places seem to sell them. There are other choices such as Bisley and Hoggs of Fife ( they do look similar)  but I sort of have ny heart set on the Barbour ones unless someone can tell me of a brand that will perform just as well as they do.

I do a lot of woodcock shooting on very rough ground full of briars and holly bushes so need something that will be waterproof and, more importantly,  turn the thorns away from me.

Thanks for the help.

Gavin.

Hi,

Sorry it is  the 3/4 length chaps that tie to your belt and has 5 or 6 pop buttons on the sides.

I am not sure of sizes but I have a 32' leg and the ones I am currently using come to about 3" under the top of ny wellies. I presume a large or a medium. I will have a look when I get home, they are well used so it might not be possible to get rhe sizes off them.

gmm243, forget leggings,  especially waxed ones,  they definitely are good at doing their job against briars etc ,  but get very heavy the wetter they get.. treggings are your friend.  Duck dri are top notch,  if you can get them,  lad up your way was bringing them in , Longthorne clothing,  but don't think he is anymore,  so its paying by postal order to get them from mainland UK..  I have  purchased decathlon treggings,  I have not worn them yet , but they look the business.  Duck dri's very good,  but barbed wire will make ribbons of them.  If your doin plenty of tramping after woodcock,  you'll cross plenty of barbed wire fences, and will snag them.. but Apart from that  v good.  I'm not going to wear the decathlon ones til  Duck dri's are completely wrecked,  they are my 2nd pair.. this is coming from a avid woodcock shooter..

Thank you.

The last pair I had before my current nearly worn out ones were Seeland and they are pretty awful to be honest. Can't even kneel down brielfy without getting a wet knee and they mist certainly were not thorn proof.

Will have a look at the Decsthalon ones. I have a lot of their gear and can't really fault it at all.

Seeland treggings are overpriced cr**, had a pair, few years ago, ripped first day out.  Completely useless, not fit forpurpose..  I'd say go with decathlon treggings,  come with a decent belt as well €55 cant go wrong. I have a pair of their leggings/chaps as well,  and if its hard wearing you want nothing comes close, don't know what material they use, its like Teflon,  nothing rips them not even barbed wire. But they are alot heavier than treggings.

If you want something that will last and last and last, then CC (Fortis) bib’n’ brace or salopettes are the ones to go for. They are impenetrable by either water, wind, barbed wire and briers, whether they be roses or brambles.
Made from a tough canvas type material they are just about bombproof; I’ve had mine for around 10 years now and they’re showing no signs of wear. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Out today in very wet ground, filled the boots in the first drain I came to.

I wore my old barbour chaps and my son wore a spare pair of my friends non-branded waxed leggings. He was soaked in no time but I stayed dry apart from the water in my welly.

Had a look at John Norris and other sites for the barbour ones but everything I tried to buy was not in stock. You would think they shouldn't advertise what they don't have.
