There is a police FEO appointed for your area they will talk to you on the phone. He/she is really the only person to answer your questions.

All applications and renewals now require GP input. So at some point your doctor will have to complete a form as to if anything in your medical history gives he or she concern regarding you possessing firearms. Therefore I would use a visit by either yourself or your Dad (you would need to go along) to advise your GP that you they will be asked at some point as to your medical history and see what they say. I am assuming your Dad must himself had to already had a medical history pro-forma done by your family GP? So he or she will know your are a family that enjoys shooting sports.

I know someone who is on meds for ADHD. He was granted a certificate because it's all documented and the GP was happy about him. So the police were okay with it. He's a good lad. Wouldn't hurt a fly. So go fo it. As others have said it's documented that you are okay with it then shouldn't be an issue. But no one can answer but your FEO really.

The process really is a glorified risk assessment. This is done by the GP (as if they say unsuitable then you don't waste more time and money), and then by the Police to look at records, history, and overall risk for you and associates.

If your GP is happy, and you don't have dodgy associates or people living with you or a checkered past, then there should be no issue. However, if there are risk factors, these will be reviewed and investigated, and this is what takes time.

Apply, be honest, and good luck!
