Gordon R Posted yesterday at 16:14 Report Share Posted yesterday at 16:14 Not sure about the incredibly rare skeet gun - I have had a couple. That said, a four barrel set is rare.
TIGHTCHOKE Posted yesterday at 16:30 Report Share Posted yesterday at 16:30 Used to see them for sale at the Lakenheath Rod and Gun shop when it was operated by the USAFE.
Dave at kelton
I love Winchesters too, and that is lovely. I have just bought a Supergrade, straight hand stock, double trigger from Holts. It fits me perfectly and I was really pleased with it when i shot at Westlands yesterday
Scully
Winchester made some very interesting guns back in the day. Many many moons ago, there was a bloke who I only ever saw on the same rough shoot I was always invited to. He was quite a bit older than me and always brought a very nice gun with him. I wasn’t aware what it was at the time but knew that I liked it very much. When I got to know him a bit better, the gun turned out to be a Winchester 5500 Sporter. He invited me to go with him and a couple of his mates on a tour of gun shops somewhere in Yorkshire, and took with him a cased gun. It wasn’t until we got to one shop ( Northallerton Guns? ) and he showed the gun to the owner that I got to look at it. It was a Winchester 101 combination gun; .308/ 20 bore if I recall. It was stunning! It had a Monte Carlo stock of incredibly nice wood and was simply sublime. It was this gun which started me on my love affair with Winchester guns, and in particular 101’s. My first was a well used basic model ( Field ? ) with a stock too short for me but with a wide beaver tail fore end which I loved. Much of the blueing was worn and the wood was plain as a plank, but I used it for clays ( no driven days for me back then! ) most weekends and really enjoyed it. There have been many more since. A mate pointed out the blokes daughter when we were having a pre-shoot breakfast the other week; but not knowing if he was still alive ( mate didn’t know either ) or not, I didn’t like to ask after him. 😬

I bought my first winchester 23 supergrade sxs 20 year's ago. I was on the look out for one a long time before that. They were a gun of choice here by alot of clay shooting men in the mid to late 80's. 101 supergrade trap. Mostly DTL and springing teal etc back then. So I got to have a go with a few of them when I was a young lad /teenager that was mid to late 90's. But one man had a pigeon grade sxs , and I loved it, so I vowed to buy one, one day.. I had found a couple of examples but they were wrecked, and extortionate price! Then one day I was into a small dealer, I was in with him regularly, buying cartridges, I browsed the shelves as I always did, he would have some good guns at very reasonable money, there she was, a sleeper, immaculate Winchester 23 supergrade sxs 🥰, I picked it up i says " how much " he's says €650 , I says, SOLD, put my Name on it quickly, gave him deposit, got paper work. The said dealer, wasn’t a big gun dealer, he sold cartridges,  guns, fixed and sold lawnmowers, chainsaw etc, but was always busy, was a decent man, died near 7 years ago. Anyway I got my supergrade 23 and since then I have done a ALOT of shooting with it at everything,  only a couple of minor issues with it over 20 years that were easily fixed . I wouldn't be without that gun, infact I got opportunity to buy another 23 supergrade last year, another virtually unused, tight as a tail on a cat, I couldn't turn up the chance, bought it too, for bargain price..
