17 bloody years, then they finally release him and now at last the first payment.

SHOCKING treatment.

IIRC, there was a tv documentary about his plight shortly after his release,,,, very interesting, but left him having to take handouts and claim benefits. He was 'given' accommodation by his solicitors, again IIRC. Since then he's had to fight tooth and nail to get his compensation agreement,,,, then this 🤬

I'm frustrated for him ! 😠😖

What is worse is that apparently the police had irrefutable DNA proof of his innocence in 2007 and the CPS  was aware of it by 2009 at the latest.

This appears in some ways to have similarities with the Post Office case where the authorities would rather an innocent man remained in prison than they have to admit they  made a mistake.

Greater Manchester police opened an internal misconduct investigation over the handling of the case but then mysteriously dropped it. That again looks highly suspicious.

There are now so many of these apparent miscarriages of so called JUSTICE, this country is going down the drain at an increasing rate.

The more you read about this case the more it would appear that it wasn't 'just' a miscarriage of justice. The unpalatable question arises of whether evidence was deliberately withheld at the time of his trial and afterwards
