starlight32
How are other forum members getting on with this subject. My other half is now back full time on a five day week, but point blank refuses to work weekends when the offer is there. I just need to sort this one and I'll be happy I cracked the part time to full time bit by withdrawing certain privilages and replacing them with other alternatives. Such as removing her new car into hiding for the weekend and replacing it with a 19 year old skoda I borrowed from a scrap dealer friend. Any other tips will be appreciated and tongue in cheek so to speak

I can remember my wife using similar tactics when we disagreed on things in the past.

I reckon you must be on different wavelengths as I'm sure the only priviledge that would work on the females of the species is removal of the credit card privileges. Mutley
Well if she's not prepared to work weekends (which does seem a little selfish on her part ) You could fix her up with a part time job in the evenings to cover the lost hours of working weekends, but she will have to do this after she's made your dinner and done the dishes of course!!
Bradders
Hell, I just hope you guys keep your guns well and truly locked up and the keys on your person the whole time..... Talk like that will not only result in the removal of privilages but the complete removal of parts you need when privilages are granted...... Pirate
Hi Starlight: You certainly have a quandry. I wonder if reminding her of her wedding vows..To Love, honour, and OBEY might work!! Shove that one in front of her and ask her to explain! On the subject of girlfriends, my wife has never got on well with any of mine: Pirate:
chunk
The solution i have is simple. Separate accounts; if she doesnt work she has no spends. Blokes have hobbies, women spend money, thats just how it is. Everyone i know who has a joint account is always skint, and have to "ask" if they want to make an expensive purchase, then to be told no its too extravagant, even though their wife has just contributed yet again to the mountain of handbags, shoes and other goods in "sales". If i want something i have it within reason. I dont justify it to the wife. She spends what she likes from her own earnings. We treat each other and sub as well sometimes. Works well. vole
After having our kid my Mrs has only worked part time and only WILL work part time, come what may she wont increase her hours. Not only that she intends to pack work in asap either retiring or when her back problem gets too bad.Muggins here works full time and then some just to pay to run 2 cars, mortgage and bills. until I am 65. I am finding the cost of living crippling. We havent had a family holiday somewhere hot in 5 years. I would emigrate to Australia tomorrow but the old ball and chain would miss her folks too much. Dont tell her I told you. SSSSHHHHH!!! I am as patriotic as they get but doesnt this country just bleed you dry?I am not on a bad salary but what the hell do you need to do just to be comfortably off? ME
Mrs LV does my company accounts from home. She has an internet link to our computers so we dont see her at the office at all She is happy because she fits her work in around family life and I am happy because I have a free member of staff who has the companys interests at heart. Only problem is now she sees how much we are making...
Mrs Sweepy
i gave up work when my first child was born . i had always said that when i had children .the first five years of their lives i wanted to be their for them . and i was very lucky that sweepy wanted the same thing for the boys too. times where hard. going from two wages to one but you get used to it and learn to buget .as every pennie counts. when my youngest started school .i thought brilliant now i can start mixing with the big people again . little did i know it would take me a other two years before i would get a job that would fit round my family life . i more then happy to be bringing money in . and at the moment i am doing three jobs .at my place of work . as soon as i finish one i then start a other . but as before my children come first . if one of them is sick then its me not sweepy that will have the time off to look after them . and if i do any overtime then it fits round my boys .not my boys fit round the overtime . now i work five days a week . the work is stressful.hard .and tiring. and beleve it or not my personnel safety is always at risk . and i get payed in a month what most people get in a week . i think am very lucky not once has sweepy moan about me not doing enough hours . and we have always had the understanding that whatever money comes into are house is shared . yes it would be nice to have two good wages coming in . but we get by and are very happy on what we get now .which once all the bills go out is not very much . and the best bit is that when my boys go to school in the mornings am there to wave them off. and when they come home am there to open the door . xxxsuzy

taz24
I was lucky enough to be able to earn enough so my wife could stop work after haveing the kids and look after them. When the youngest was about 11 she got a part time job and now works full time at the same school as the kids so that she still gets the holidays off. I dropped my hours back when she went back to work so it worked out good all round. We have joint accounts and my kids have access to more money than me . Ho Hum my choce. Cheers taz. End up with the usual old pony 'I've known you to do 500 quid on cartridges' To which I replied- Yes- but I am actually saving money- with cartridges going up and up it is wise to buy a few and therefore save in the long run. At the end of the day love I don't see the price of glass going up in the forseaable future do you????? I rest my case
Pirate
Hi Starlight: I bought a pair reading glasses for Mrs Pirate for Christmas. Luxury is what Christmas is all about, after all, they are hardly a neccessity for household chores. On the upside, she can now get my socks darned to a much higher standard, and has taken over the soldering and repairs of my Gun club's release buttons! P.s I can guess what youre thinking, 'cheapskate'. Not so, I also bought her a new drill. Pirate: Edited January 26, 2008 by Pirate
