WGD
I've got two kids and, since I was not introduced to shooting as a child, was wondering at what age members started shooting and how old their kids were on the first trip to the clay range? It will be a while before I contemplate taking either of them rough shooting but they see and handle any game I bring home and know what goes on so the question really relates to a sensible age for handling a gun, both mentally and physically - no doubt there will be a few witty comments about mental ages... stokie
I take my nephews clay shooting and decoying. First time they were 13 years old . They shoot with my 410 and love every minute of it . How ever my 14 year old daughter will come to the clay ground to press the buttons for me but will not come at all if i shoot animals on the farm........ Wish i had a son
Mutley
This has to be your call mate, only you know if and when they can comprehend the safety/danger aspect of using any fire arm...Never to young to learn just go through things step by step and talk to them correct them if not safe and encourage them all the way (make it fun). They will soon grasp the idea of being a safe gun.....and maybe you should take them rough shooting least it will enforce what comes out the end is lethal....But either way mate all the best with them. BTMS
Grandson was 8 when he started pushing the clay buttons!!! Lovewd seeing Grandad wondering what was next!! Let then come easy to shooting dont force let them think its natural an take them at there own pace. Fresh air and something different, let them feel special and let them tell there school friends. some of their dads most probably used to shoot, but gave it up. \Might get the dads back interested, then more the merrier. Barbies are the best introduce a little at a time pigeon pheasants etc, remember when the older folk thought rabbit pigeon was good cheap food!! Tell them about the low cholesteral, LOW FAT benefits (3 wives mates eat them now) BTMS
