Advice Please

A friend of mine feels she's ready to purchase her first gun. She's only ever shot with a 20 bore and I see no harm in sticking with that as a starting point. She's really only a clay shooter, although one day I might tempt her out into the field, but, for the purposes of this advice, we can stick to clays as being the intended target, so it will probably be O/U.

Fit will be the ultimate determining factor, but she would really like an attractive gun - she knows it won't help her shoot any better, but she's not worried about that - what she wants is something that looks... well... I can't think of a better word than... pretty  . I reckon she'd be happy to spend anything around 2.5K. Can you lot suggest say 3 guns that she could try? A lateral thought might be a gun with a plain action that she can have engraved perhaps...?

My girlfriend and I both have a 20b Silver Pigeon. She bought hers as it's the most elegant 20b available. I bought mine may years previously, as it is the most refined off-the-shelf twenty. It handles like a dream.

I have an SKB 20b as well, which shoots well but is a bit more utilitarian in appearance.

For Beretta money, you may be worth looking at Caesar Guerrini too.

Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon III 20gauge RRP £1785. Available >>here<< @ £1630 and worth giving Neville a call for a quote @ >>Essex Gun<<. More info >>here<<.

Biggest problem most women have is Gun Fit, so don't rule out 12guage guns yet. Beretta, Bettinsoli, Laber, Miroku, Browning, Fabram and many more do adjustable stock/combe guns. And using 24g instead of 28g cartridges won't kick any harder than the 20gauge 24g carts she's probably using now, so gun weigh would be the only issue to think about.

20gauge cartridges are also more expensive (around 15% - 25% depending on manufactorer) but has she has a £2.5k budget, this may not be too much of a problem.
