njc110381
I got home today to find my certificate on the door mat. My variation was successful for the .223+mod. The 6.5x55 and .223 are for cleared land only, but the .22lr and .17hmr are open. I'm very happy with that, as the main of my shooting is with the HMR. So, a semi open ticket in less than 4 months. It is possible

moses
Well done Sounds like a good compromise for the time being.
njc110381
I've been shooting open conditions with my mentor with all my guns since I started, and also had some shooting experience from before I got my ticket. My mentor wrote me a letter to say that he was happy with my progress and felt I was safe to judge land on my own. I think the evidence put forward to them added proof to my request letter. At the end of the day, all the FEO needs to know is that you'll be safe. I also said that I was prepared to compromise and didn't need the 6.5x55 open if that would allow me to have rimfire opened sooner.

njc110381
Having read it more carefully it's going to have to go back again They've listed a mod I don't own as in my posession, and haven't put vermin on the .223! I phoned the firearms dept first thing this morning and told them about the mod issue (my main concern) and asked why vermin wasn't a condition for the .223. They said send it back and they'll change it, which is good. I was expecting them to try to get out of the .223 bit, but they didn't. I thought they were useless up until now, but I'm really happy with the service this time
