henry d
My Grandfather was my hero. Fought in 2 world wars and survived to teach me all the things a young boy should know... I agree with the sentiment too, my Granda was a hero too, didn`t sign for his medals `cos he didn`t want have to polish them .....but he was there to meet me from the Falklands though. marlin1
Would say my Granddad because he fought in WW2. But will have to be my dad. He had lot's of permission, but used to poach to supply the local butchers. I know he was doing wrong but was only a boy then. Only see him come off worse against two brothers one day when we were out with our lurchers. Was the greatest shot I have ever seen, you are always impressed at an early age. Lost his guns when I was 13 due to problems with neighbours & cats. Last time I took him shooting was 1998, he was not the best of shot's and I seemed to shoot everything he missed. He his 71 tomorrow and can no longer climb over the gates to the farm..... Dad I will always love you and you have always been a pillar of strength. Look for your hero's on tv or in the press, but when the sh-t its the fan my dad as always been there for me,,,,,,,

Now and then he would talk if really pushed and he'd had a few drinks. Although he would sit down and talk to my wife a lot , who was fascinated by his life. I reckon she knows more than I do about it all.
