No I don't use them and I don't like them.

In my opinion it is cheating but ebay do

allow them.

The reason I do not like them is because

it ruins the spirit of the auction. For me

the auction is done by people who bid against

each other. ebay have a facility to increase

the bid to your maximum limit and that should

be enough.

My views only. If I was selling somthing and it was sniped

in the last seconds I proberbaly would not sell

the item to that person.

Cheers taz.

If you want something badly PM the seller and see if they will do a cash deal and close the auction.

Naughty, but it works.

I just did i saw some purse nets on another forum and he said they had gone then saw the same user name on ebay selling nets. I contacted him though the forum and made a deal and he pulled them off ebay.

Not being a computer geek, what happens then if more than one person is using one of these sniper programs, surely one of them ahas to lose out and therefore it isn't very effective.

Mungler I did something similar and got warned off by Ebay after the guy complained. I only asked him where abouts he was so I could arrange to pick it up if I won.

You Set The Time Which You Want The Bid To Be Placed At. So One Will Be Before The Other In Theory.

I use Auctionsniper, it's not unfair, it's not cheating. As in any auction, the person who bids the most wins. You choose the maximum that you are prepared to pay, if somebody outbids you, you lose. How is that cheating?

You cannot refuse to sell to the highest bidder, it's a legal contract, why should you? You got the highest price that was bid, how is that a problem to you as a seller?

The time does not matter, the person who bids the most wins, this is what an auction is.

Yes, it's that simple, it does not matter how many people use a sniper, the one who bids the most wins the auction, and again, this is what an auction is.

The voice of reason. Everything Bob has said is true, but if you use a Sniper site and you place exactly the same amout as another sniper bid, it is the bid that is placed first wins.

Most Sniping sites offer free snipes placed between 20 and 10 seconds before the end of the auction. If you want a snipe placed in the last 2 seconds you have to pay for it. the only time I use a sniper site these days is if I am not going to be around for the auction end. The rest of the time I do it manually, it can really get the pulse racing refreshing every couple of seconds to see how high the bids have gone and waiting to click confirm.

When people bid a record of the bid is made.

when a snipper is used the bidders identity is hidden untill

the last second. When bidders bid the seller can see who

is bidding and can then vet them as a potential buyer.

I had a problem once with a sniper bidder.

I placed a motorbike for a friend with a 7 day

listing. After the first day the mate wanted to

withdraw the bike. I withdrew it a per ebays

rules.

There were no bids placed on the auction.

Sombody though had placed a sniper bid

and even though the auction was closed

1 second to the end of the auction his sniper

bidded.

I had a lot of problems with the bidder.

It got very personal but in the end he backed

down but not before he had left me bad feedback.

So from a personal point of view I do not like them

Eh, none of that makes any sense?

You withdrew a bike but someone bid on it?

You can withdraw an auction in good time and the auction closes and disappears i.e. no one has a chance to place a bid. You try and pull and auction either within 24 hours of its closing or when their are bids on it in excess of the reserve and eBay won't let you.

You amend the text on the listing to say "Removed from auction sold elsewhere" then that's moody in itself. It normally means I forgot to put a reserve on the bike and it looks like the auction is going South for me, or someone has phoned me up and offered me cash and I want to take it. Either way not in the spirit of ebay? If someone then sticks a bid on it in the dying seconds of the auction and I assume you were not afforded enough time to cancel the bid then that's plain old tough - nothing to do with auction snipers etc.

This does not make sense either, you cannot leave feedback for anybody unless there has been a completed sale, you maintain that; "I withdrew it as per ebays rules", therefore there was no sale made, ergo, no feedback can be left by either buyer or seller.

If I realy want something, and that has only happened once so far, I wait until the last 30 secs, place my max bid, and that isn't enough I haven't lost out. In these situations it is the seller who wins everytime.

The only time I got into a into a duel with anyone was going after a Swarovski scope.

I knew my max and it just happened to be more than the the other 2 peoples max.

The seller took the risk of ebaying it without a decent reserve, and I got a fantastic scope for £260 off the new price - I was happy, so I didn't realy care about the others :hmm:

Have drink after you go after ebay items, not before would be my advice.
