Suffolk shooter
Went out pigeon shooting on rape nr ipswich windy day never saw one pigeon in the air or on ground give up and went home are they feeding on something else Will Try again soon. They are still on rape, but also on Clover and Chickweed. You are about 5 mins from me and with two rape fields at my back door they are still in there every day even though pasrts of it are four foot high and flowering. You just need to find the right fields. I was out on Monday and had a sharp learning experience with the magnet scaring them off, I just left it too late as it didn't feel right without it. Saturday before two rape fields on another permission of mine and the birds didn't want to know. The one I did shoot was stuffed with Rape but coming from a neighbouring farm. My guess is there is o much for them to choose from that its like playing catch up all the time. Keep at it, don't be afraid to do something different from the norm and you might get somewhere, but still roll on the laid wheat and barley etc. SS
Cranfield
I have been out all day and moved three times to follow the birds. Despite plenty of drilling around and chitting peas, they were all on the short parts of the rape fields. Hard work for a few birds, but at least it wasn't raining. mickeylove
There was a flock of about 500 pidgeons on our rape yesterday, with most of it growing too high for them they seem to be concentrating in the poor patches

cloudwalker
I managed 57 today and my mate 2 fields away got another 72. All were shot over OSR, very late germinating and still less than a foot high. They just kept on coming

AJL
Still on Rape in bits here. Mind, hundreds on clover field about 100yds from the newly drilled barley field (month behind last year) despite a lot of grain on the surface. Guess they prefer clover to barley seed? Only the odd one came - and didnt leave.
maxwell
They are still on the rape up here, one field it's only a few inches high, but there was a couple of dozen in the horse padocks too after the clover. I managed eleven on a walk about Saturday, windy but warm, cheers Maxi.
