For the sake of a few quid (unless you regulary shoot massive bags) be respectful to your quarry and buy game cartridges to suit what you are shooting.

As Emmsy says, 28g 7.5s will kill pigeon or rabbit and it's your choice if you want to use them but, IMO, 32g 5s or 6s will do it far more efficiently and ensure less likelihood of a pricked bird or rabbit escaping wounded.

Just my two pence worth.

I concur i use steel 24g 7.5 for clays and vermin but find 32g 6s have a much better stopping power.;)

I've used 7.5 shot on pigeon on many occasions when I've had nothing else, but in 30g.

Restrict your range to 30 yards and there will be no problems.

I seem to recall that Archie Coats used nothing but No 7 shot with an open choked gun, and there isn't all that much difference between 7.5's and 7's.

Using 24g would be totally wrong, as the pattern and shot weight wouldn't be good enough.

One of the best crow killers that I have ever used is Rottweil 36g in No 7.5 - they don't like it up 'em.

That might be because of the shot quality in them.

I once cut open a claybuster than didn't fire and the sizes of shot ranged from 9's to 5's.
