Forgot to mention she looks to be in good condition and certainly a lovely brush on her. How old do you make her to be? What exactly are your trying to get at? But to answer your question, I wouldn't have a clue how old she is. But judging by the state of her teeth I would have said she was old, she was missing quite a few teeth and one of her lower canines was missing and another upper one was black and her teeth in general were in a bad state. She also looked as if she was after a raising a litter of cubs as the fur around her teats was only growing back but she wasn't milky or anything, so the cubs were probably reared. I don't do a lot of fox shooting but I have shot a few in the past, haven't had that rifle out in about 4yrs. Thanks for being so interested! If she's losing teeth then it's likely she'll have started going for the easy meals like chickens and geese etc. Near me someone kept chickens on a horse paddock until an old fox decided he was hungry. Into the coop and did the lot.

DaveK
Will try and get back out for them. good do, well done with the vixen. You'd stand a better chance with the cubs if you left mother where you shot her. The cubs will keep coming back to her and make it easier for you to get them.
deeksofdoom
I've left her in the field in one of the ditches the cubs can't be too far away.

tikkamark
how'd this get dragged out of the woodwork? I was thinking it would be odd to see a vixen that had rared a litter of cubs and be finished feeding them in February!
