decroyffe
Do the above tend to be more expensive?? My local gunshop where i buy most, if not all of my gear, has a CZ Style with 16" Barrels in at £340. Now that price isn't for the likes of me, he also has a walk out the door price, but i'm not sure what it will be on that rifle. Point is, on guntrader theres a number of Cz Styles for £230 but thery have 20" barrels, and the cheapest with 16" is just over £260??? Now with the cost of diesel it's not worth me traverling for one elsewhere so what sort of price should i be happy with when i go to the local, regards

bob300w
Yes, it's a fact. Your gunshop is not trying to con you, 16" are around £30 (varies with model) more to buy in than 20", add the VAT to that. The logic defies me also, but that's how it is. Blackbart
The barrel is mass produced in lets say 22" so if you want one in 16" there is extra work to be done to it(cut and recrown)so you are paying for the extra work. And it helps that 16"seems to be the fashion now and they know that. Yup, that would be my guess too. You make the standard length the cheaper price because you're making more of them and a non standard item incurs any product changeover charges. Thanks Rick
decroyffe
I seem to remember reading when cz first introduced the 16" barrels that they were made by a different production method? Maybe hammer forged rather than buttoned or cut maybe, who knows? maybe vice versa? Quesstion your local shop as to why, let them give you a reason and if not, mail order it to another local dealer. Or just save time and effort and just pay the price, depends on what your time is worth to you and buying local means taking it back local if you have problems with it. Thats my main concern Fister, having any problems. Thats way i'll still buy local bite the bullet and pay that bit more.

Dunkield
Another alternative would to buy the long gun if it is a bargain, and then get Steve Kershaw (or another good riflesmith) to lop it back to 16" for you Decroyffe
