Dunkield
Seeing Buckfast's post reminded me that I need to get my *** in gear and find a small river fishing boat. It needs to be light enough to be lifted onto the roof of a car but stable enough to take 2 adults + dog. Ideally it would be able to take a small outboard for those longer treks up to remote weirs. Anyone have any recommendations? I really fancied one of those alumininium ones until I saw the price

The good thing about GRP is it is easy to repair.... PP is not. PP is nice and light but GRP is not really.
Dunkield
I got what Pav means (I think) plastic as opposed to fibreglass - like most canoes seem to be these days. Thanks for the replies, it is a functional looking boat but a bit butt ugly if you don't mind me saying so. Any other recommendations? MC
Have a look at h2okayaks, There is a website but you can do your own seach, the american jon boats seem OK. 12 foot long light enough to lift on your own, take an outboard etc. They are plastic but if you look after them they last forever. Dunkield
They look pretty decent, I reckon 50kgs may be tad too much for me and the missus to get up on the roof of the car though, but I don't know without testing it (her) I quite like this one as well, hmmm http://www.walkerbay.com/products/original_walkerbay8.php
jimdfish
Be careful of the GRP boats that come with the miracle stove on board. My dad lit his to warm up and it melted through the floor leaving him waist deep in the river tweed. proof if any were needed that you cannot have your Kayak and heat it. I thankyou Jim

Teal
We have an inflatable boat which takes an outboard. I can't remember the make now, but can check next week. Something similar to http://www.excel-inflatables.co.uk/index-uk.html , but I think the ones we have got "marine" in the name. Not sure if it is quite what you are after but is another option. I plan to use it for some wildfowling this winter!
malkiserow
This is a machine I've been playing with .... it is only a prototype and you cannot buy one .... but it is the mother of all amphibious craft... goes out on Force 7 seas and can go over land!!!! currently having some new duct modifications for the next trial .... it does 65 mph as a hovercraft but much less as a RIB A bit over your 50Kg lifting limit though.... not need to lift as it can get on and off a trailor using the skirts
