Dr W
I might be interested as never done one before but would have to be Monday or Friday for me so that I could tie the trip in with a visit to my folks in Cheshire. Have two mates who might be interested. Cheers

tulkyuk
Right i have just been on to the shoot manager - Monday the 1st of december is a spare day in his calender, this is so we get the best results and dont clash with anyone else or a shoot day either side of it. I have provisonaly booked that date and just await the response from any takers on here
pavman
good luck always nice to see folk share a nice day out, the recent visit by the Mafia to suffolk proved that (well done to MC and Ferretboy111) also you dont need big bags to have a sporting outing 40-50 birds should provide plenty of shots Edited November 11, 2008 by pavman
MC
If you weren't the other side of the country I would take you up on this. You wouldn't like to come and pick me up would you? Good luck with your day I hope it all goes well for you. If you have half as much fun as we did then you will have a great day. And a little tip for you, don't let anyone else drive your 4 x 4, they may well get it stuck

turner2785
how many spaces are left if any mate?
tulkyuk
NJW Would be more than happy to accomodate a newbie to game shooting, we all have to start somewhere. Turner2785 How many do you need mate - there are some spaces left until people totally commit. it will consist of :- Total number of guns will probably be 6-8 (more guns = more birds etc.) cost is £125 per gun and possibly a tip for the keeper ( buts thats up to yourselves) You will stand all day ( probably 4 or 5 mini drives - small woods, copses etc.) and can shoot anything that is legal and is in season. you will need to bring a small lunch - coffee, sandwiches etc - but we can all go to the local later where they do a realy nice meal for not a lot of cash. it will be near Whitchurch on the shropshire/north wales/cheshire borders And the approx bag will be 40-50 - last year i think we shot 67 though.( for the same price- no extra) any other info, just ask. What i will ask for is a small deposit - which will be paid direct to the estate( Thier address wil be provided) and i want to make it fair to everyone, so first come first served etc. Edited November 11, 2008 by tulkyuk

Peely
Interesting. Would you be happy with a newcomer to driven? Appreciate newbies with guns can be a worry! N NJW - I went on this day last year and apart from a beaters day the previous year it was my first real experience of shooting driven birds. I can't recommend it enough as a great day for a novice. I am going again this year and hopefully my aim should have improved!!! If you can get out of your meeting for the day I'll see you there... nhamm2
I must say Tulkyuk, this is a most generous offer. I have never tried game shooting and would love to give it a go this year. I am very tempted, even though you're a fair distance from me...
tulkyuk
Entirley upto you - what i will say is, judging by the faces and smiles on a couple of the guys last year, they had a ball. there is also accomodation very near the shoot ( infact we meet in the carpark of the hotel)
MM
You dont get to keep all the game, but are normally allowed to have a brace or two at the end of the day. can i just ask a question please. as i know nowt about driven days...ect... the cost of the shoot is £125 pp. and end up with a brace or two? thats over £50 per bird why do you not get to keep the birds you shoot? cant see myself doing this ......EVER. Probably for the best. Your not shooting the birds for the meat, your shooting for the sport and the great day out. £125.00 is a really good price for a full days driven shoot. THATS HALF PRICE. !!! loads of pigeons.
NJW
tulk/peely Cheers for the encouragement. Wanting to get into driven and this looks superb. My perception is that it is hard as a novice to be accepted by experienced guns. There is alot of etiquette (what do i wear!!!, how do I tip, how low is low, what is a sporting bird etc etc etc) and safety (quite rightly so!) which can be quite daunting for a newcomer with no one to guide them. I really appreciate you extendiong this offer. I am afraid I can't get out of teh meeting that day but if you are having something else later then I would like to be considered. Cheers agaian and have a great day. N
tulkyuk
NJW Ok No worries mate Martin It is not for everyone and game shooting is about mainly about the sport & the challange and not the what you take home. With most shoots now charging £30 plus per bird, it can be an expensive day out. this will be a nice cheapish day out and with some good quility birds being shown and a also a good mix of game, last year the guys shot Pheasant, Partridge, woodcock Duck and even a couple of pigeons if i remeber correctly.
