toka_shigazu
hi, i was wondering if anyone can give any advice re the following..... my tracer max lamp battery is on its way out, this will usually give 1.5 hrs of light. i spoke to someone about a replacement and was told that they had a 12v 8A/h replacement that should be ok but they didnt have a 12v 7A/h exact match. he was insistent that no harm would come using this replacement. am i correct in thinking that a 8A/h replacement may mean a few extra minutes of light but at the risk of a slight increase in the bulb blowing? can anyone say if that is correct.... seb
The bulb wont blow as it is the same volts, you will get slightly longer out of the 8ah battery
steve_b_wales
The batteries I use for my lamps are 17amp hour. They are larger/heavier but last for hours. A 10 amp hour would be okay for your needs. Edited November 17, 2008 by steve_b_wales

webber
H I agree that the 17ah battery last for ages on a lamp, its what I usually use on the rotary. It is however a bit of a lump to carry arounf on your shoulder. A 7ah battery should be fine. webber
Axe
As said, the batery will be fine and the result will be longer usage. The amp hour figure is the capacity of the battery i.e. how much usage you will get from it. The only downside to a larger capacity battery is the length of time it will take to recharge it i.e. fill it back up.
maddog546
I use two 6volt 10 amp/hour batteries wire to give 12 volts which give a longer life than a single 12volt 10 amp as you are using two sets of plates instead of one,as my lighteforce lamp only uses 4 amps that gives me 2 1/2 hours of continuous light and worn around the waist you barely know they are there.
